ORIKKO'S SUBLIMATION DISCOURSE + THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN TIKKI, ZIGGY & DUUSU'S "Item Creation" POWERS
Littol Art I made of these 3 Kwamis💕
Hiii, so, I noticed there's still some questions about that episode where Monarch wants to use Orikko's Sublimation and the Kwamis say that their powers cannot interfere with eachother and that a Concept cannot exist twice, cuz a copy of "Creation" is "Re-Creation" . And why are there at least 3 Kwamis that "create stuff" even if only Tikki is the Kwami of Creation, what's the difference?
Here's how I interpret the Kwami's powers to work:
Am I the only one who understood that the Kwamis meant that ORIKKO couldn't copy powers with Sublimation or...? Because literally, the two main Miraculouses are created to oppose and cancel each other out and in that scene they said you couldn't request powers that "interfered" those of the other Kwamis, while we've always seen the akuma and amok use powers similar to those of the Miraculouses, they even have "Yin-Yang" pairings for all!
I think the Kwamis, in that scene in season 5, were only talking about Sublimation, in fact, they were explaining what kind of powers he could grant and what the limits were on their choice. Maybe it's just because of how Sublimation itself works, because it seems like Butterfly and the Peacock CAN copy concepts... or can they?
Whether or not they ment just Orikko or all the Kwamis, I think they were still not lying when they said the Concepts can't exist twice, we just interpreted it the wrong way. Because, while the Concept cannot be doubled, the way it's manifested with the superpowers can be copied instead.
I think the Butterfly and the Peacock can mimic the Power that manifests the Concept but, even if it works the same way and has the same strenght, I think the way those powers are given by these two Miraculous is not the same as the powers being a true manifestation of their Concepts.
Sublimation litterally gives you that power, since it doesn't have it's own: by choosing your own power you're basically asking to represent a Concept of your choosing. Instead: Butterfly is Transmission-> you give someone a power based off their goals; Peacock is Emotion -> you can make Sentibeings and give abilities so it becomes "perfect"]
When they said that a Concept can't exist twice, in that scene, I think they were trying to tell Gabriel that he had to change the words of his request, that if he expressed himself with different words, he would achieve a similar result... but he didn't get it because he's stupid and the Kwamis didn't care about helping him at all...
ANYWAY BACK TO THE OTHER PART OF THE TITLE: TIKKI, ZIGGY AND DUUSU
While "Creation" (Tikki) and "Passion" (Ziggy) both *manifest* their Concepts by creating something (Lucky charm makes an object, Genesis also makes an object), the way these items come to be and are supposed to be used is very different.
Duusu ("Emotion") also creates entities (living/objects), so imma talk about their power as well, to compare it with the other two.
"CREATION": TIKKI'S LUCKY CHARM
Tikki's Lucky Charm is created through "Luck": The Universe sends something that, if figured out correctly, will guarantee you the win as long as you don't lose it or use it wrongly (it basically brings you luck in battle). If you cannot picture what it is supposed to be for, the Lucky Charm itself is a completely useless item.
This is because the concept of CREATION is not about summoning the object, but about the ideas and plans you *Create * to use it. You require a lot of Creativity to successfully make good use of the Lucky Charm; that's why Marinette is a great holder, she's got Creativity to sell and giveaway for free.
Her plans are so weird that the Lucky Charm object is even more useless than when others use it (in fact the others get cool stuff like rocket launchers, swords, buttefly trackers.. she gets a fork or a traffic cone), but that's what makes Marinette a special holder.
The object is so seemingly random that only a convoluted creative mind can *Create* a convoluted creative enough Plan on how to use in battle so quickly on the spot (that's why we also have the little sequence where Ladybug looks around and figures out which items to use around her).
The 'other Ladybugs' with more simple and direct Lucky Charms are usally beaten more easily, because the opponent can figure out the plan quick enough to react, disarm and counterattack (AntiBug, Chrismaster & Sandboy's Ladybugs, SentiBug).
The villains are always clueless when she receives a Lucky Charm: why would they go on alert when Ladybug gets a pencil? That's exactly why she's good, only she is fast enough to guess what's it supposed to be for before the villain can respond! And that's why they say the real LuckyCharm is in her mind and skill, not in the object.
The Creative Plan and what she makes of the Object is the real manifestation of "Creation" , while the object is just a tool or a hint to activate/use her creativity by solving the puzzle. This is also why the level of complexity varies depending on the user: it's based off their level of creativity (NOT on their intelligence: Adrien isn't stupid, he's just not as creative as Marinette).
The object can have magical/active properties, because sometimes that's part of how you needed it to be to express your creative plan to the fullest.
This is also why Ladybug usually studies the villain for a while before activating the Lucky Charm. She needs to understand them so she can quickly come up with an effective plan on how to defeat them before asking the universe to give her a hint.
"PASSION": ZIGGY'S GENESIS
Instead, the concept of PASSION from Ziggy is manifested through "Genesis" which IS about summoning the object, but in the sense that it makes You manifest what you're passionate about. You require a Passionate mind to successfully make good use of Genesis, that's why Nathaniel is a great holder, he's very very passionate about the things he does!
His love for Art and Drawing is how he expresses himself, Genesis allows him to "bring to life" the things he loves the most by using his great imagination. He can choose which object to draw based on what he's thinking and what he likes, that's why he always draws stuff like paintbrushes and other art tools. That's his Passion and he's using it to fight. However, it doesn't have any magic or power attached to it, because it's just a manifestation of the thing you imagined and not the real deal.
These objects don't guarantee you the win, as it's not the universe that gives you them, but yourself. The knowledge you have about those objects you draw with Genesis is based on what you know about them. If you draw random stuff you won't know how to use them, because they're not something that ever interested you or think has a particular use, but if you draw what you love the most, you'll figure it out, the possibilities are as many as you can Imagine!
Just like Nathalie, as Safari, made herself a box with a crossbow and ammo inside. She's an ex-adventurer, so she was manifesting her Passion too when she used it in season 5! And she was really good at it, she almost won, if it wasn't for the heroes swapping Miraculous to make her lose their tracks!
We don't know that much about Genesis yet, but this is what I can get from the few times we've seen it used.
"EMOTION": DUUSU'S SENTIBEINGS
Another Kwami that manifests their Concept through the creation of something is Duusu with EMOTION, but I think we understand why that one's different already?
It creates entities (objects or living) based off your emotions, what you feel in the moment, your intentions, your mind. The entity is not based off your creativity nor your passions, it's not given by the universe nor by the fact you like something: It's about how you're feeling deep inside.
It allows you to express your emotions into something tangible, which you can use to express yourself: by controlling them (like you can control/repress your emotions), as we saw how you can make them say what you want through their amok object, or by letting them run free and let them even live to form their own, so they can manifest said emotions by themselves.
That's their Core: the emotion you had when you made them it's like the base that influences their personalities and how they will tend to express themselves (they still form those thoughts autonomously, your emotion just makes them more inclined). Like Feast was made of Anger and Hunger, so it destroyed and ate everything; Adrien is made of Love, so he is always sweet, friendly and wants someone to love with all his heart.
Doesn't require you to know much about the creature, just how you want it to look like, since you can give it abilities and features yourself. But if you wanna create a Dog, the Senti will be a Dog, just as much dog as any other dogs, if that's what you desire it to be, just with the added 'quirk' that they can be controlled and hurt with their amok object, they're inclined to feel the emotions you made them with (but they can have their own) and you can snap them out of existence if you purify the amok or have the Peacock. In the end it's still a dog even if you made it with magic and it has these 'extra features', it's a dog and a senti (not half).
______
In short:
-LuckyCharm: the 'Universe' creates an object that lets you express your Creativity with how you're gonna actually use it, as you have to figure out what to do with it or what it is telling you, on the spot. Brings you "luck" & victory in battle and suggests you how to solve problems, as long as you figure out how to use it.
-Genesis: You create a (non-magic) object based off your Passions and knowledge about that object already, you think how you're going to use it even before you even summon it, based on what you know it's usually for/why you think it's gonna be useful. Makes your imagination tangible! Doesn't give you any guarantee the thing you manifested will actually be helpful.
-Emotion (idr power name): You create an entity, object or living, with abilities and features chosen by you and how you desire it to be, as a way to express and give life to your Emotions to the fullest. Can gain it's own autonomy if given it's amok object, or can be controlled in a way it lets you express yourself (ex: Senti-Projector helped Feligami tell their tale, Senti-Bug was copying what Mayura told her to say and do, RedMoon was the expression of Felix's desire for revenge)
___
Another difference between Genesis and Lucky Charm is that since you created the object with Genesis and you already kinda know how to use it even before you draw it, you won't need much creativity to use it, you just already had your idea and you use it as it is, no modifications. Instead the Lucky Charm requires you to be creative and think it through, which includes having to modify and combine it with other objects, like a DIY project, that's why sometimes Ladybug gets a whole set of stuff, but then she uses only a piece of it (ex: the full Ladybug outfit set in "Pharaoh" where she used only the earrings; the giant machine gun in "Malediktator" where she used only the laser pointer, Scarabella's tarpaluin in "Deflagration" which required KittyNoire to find a bunch of items to combine and use to drop paint on the akuma villlain, the plastic beads they used in "Perfection" to make a group artwork for Ryukomori)
___
The reason why when Kwamis shouldn't use their powers without a holder to mediate it is because the Kwamis ARE the Concept themselves, so they have an infinite amount of it. Tikki has unlimited Creativity, Ziggy has unlimited Passion(s) and Duusu feels unlimited Emotions (same with the others).
Btw, again, everything I've said in this post is just how I interpret it,I might be wrong tbh👀
Tumblr decided not to save my draft while I was checking something in another tab, but the short answer is yes.
Longer explanation:
Marinette is absolutely still Ladybug, although her dynamic w/ hero Vylad is a little different because like. he's actually sane(/hj), but he does make puns.
Also Vylad and Kacey are kinda in a queerplatonic-ish relationship? Kacey moves to Paris after MS season 3 in this AU to get away from the chaos and lives with Vylad, has no clue vro is a hero until way later on.
Kacey is in a wheelchair in this AU. He can stand for a minute or two but otherwise needs it to get around, it's been like that since birth. Another reason why Katelyn beat the shit out of Ein.
I may or may not give Kacey either Wayzz or Orikko as a Kwami? I dunno, but I want him to be a hero because fuck yeah disabled heroes are badass.
ALSO GUESS WHO'S REALIZED THEY HAVE FULL CONTROL OVER WHAT SPECIES THE MLB CHARACTERS ARE NOW?? LAUGHS MANIACALLY!!
Inspirated little in the Greek god Apollo and the steriotype of the rooster sings when the sun rise. Like Wazzy and more in the future, are more human that the animal what he represents
Ivan knocked on Mylene’s door. A moment passed before she answered it.
“Ivan! I’m glad to see you. Come in.”
Mylene dragged Ivan in and sat him down.
“Uh, Mylene, I-,” Ivan started.
“Would you like some tea? I found this new herbal tea that is amazing. I think you’ll love it.”
“Uh, maybe later. Look, I wanted to talk to you about the protest that happened the other day. I saw it turned into a full riot. Did you attend it?”
Mylene hesitated. “Yes.”
“What? Why did you attend it alone? Why didn’t you ask me to come with you?”
“I… you’ve been angry since the whole thing with… that kwami. I didn’t want to bother you.”
“Mylene, you can’t attend those protests alone. You need someone with you to keep you safe!”
“Yeah, Mylene. You’re just a weak little girl. You can’t do anything on your own,” Orikko cooed.
“Buzz off, bird brain. I can handle this just fine,” Ivan snapped.
“Please. You can barely manage your own ass. You’d likely lose it if it weren’t attached. Unfortunate for you.”
“Enough! Both of you. Ivan, I am not some weak little damsel. I… I am a mighty dragon. I am a champion of nature.”
Orikko laughed. “You hear that delusional nonsense? Her kwami is absolutely misleading her. Such a pity for her to be stuck with someone such as-.”
Orikko stopped when a billow of smoke rose between them and Mylene. Longg’s yellow eyes pierced through the black smoke. It dissipated as Longg stepped forward in her human form. Orikko screeched as he flew away from her. He barreled into the floor where he transformed into a teen dressed in punk clothes.
Longg roared and collided with Orikko. The pair wrestled until Longg pinned Orikko. She summoned her weapon, a sword, and held it at his throat.
“Longg, enough!” Mylene yelled.
“What? No! This feathered freak needs a reminder in respect.”
“And what lesson is truly learned in violence?” Mylene argued.
Longg considered, then released Orikko. “This one time, feathers. Don’t forget it.”
Orikko watched Longg move beside Mylene before he got up and moved beside Ivan. “Let’s get out of here.”
“What? Not yet. Mylene and I-!” Ivan started.
“Are done with this conversation,” Mylene finished.
“What? No. Mylene, please, I don’t want to lose you.”
“Then don’t treat me like I’m a flower. I’m not defenseless, nor am I alone. I have Longg as a guardian now too. She can protect me and I can protect myself with her. Understood?”
“I-.”
“See? Now, let’s get going before her salamander decides to slit our throats,” Orikko said.
“But-!” Ivan protested.
Orikko dragged Ivan out of residence. Mylene lingered a little longer and stared at the door.
