So I see a lot of ai content on r/isthisai and a lot of the content slop is "cute cat videos" right (?) and I noticed that a lot of the cats doing stupid shit is depicting orange cats as the stupid ones. Like. small potatoes I know, but ai does perpetuate stereotypes and underlying societal biases. Orange cats aren't inherently the least intelligent cats (there's science behind why the dumb orange cat behavior stereotype exists---surprise surprise, it's because orange cats are more likely to be male bc of the X chromosome carrying the orange gene, people believe male cats are more docile, playful, and kitten-like because "boy cats don't mature like girl cats, girl cats are mean/not as social or playful/aloof and don't do Dangerous Boy Cat Activities" which is obviously not true of all cats, male cats are sometimes bolder, but like, it's internalized sexism that perpetuates Personality Types onto animals, like "torti-tude"-- the stereotype that tortishell cats are more likely to be feisty/spicy, which is bc most all torti cats are female.) (ALSO reminds me of the Dumb Blonde stereotype in people. Maybe another trait projection). People naturally believe these as facts, and then go online and ai generate hidden bias-riddled videos w prompts like "orange cat tries to fight alligator" or "tabby cat jumps into bath tub and doesn't realize it's full of water" or "fat ginger cat eats lasagna" (ai content slop loves animals in mortal peril for Some Fucking Reason). Idk where I was going with this but like, it's interesting to me what people do with the (unethical) power to generate false images/videos of reality, even w something as innocuous as funny cat videos, and what that power ultimately does and how it influences the people viewing it. Idk Idk
