★ @burstbombbitch asked: What are the facets and/or morals of your character that conflict with each other? How do you, as well as the muse, handle that conflict? What's the mentality or reason that contradictory mindset/moral/facet exists? You could say it's something they're blatantly hypocritical about, if I can try to be any clearer.
what quantifies as strength to geno sure doesn’t seem to apply to himself, now does it? after all, this is the same man who praises mallow, for instance, for his ability to keep his heart snugly on his sleeve. witnessing the poor ‘frog’ prince crying his heart out is inspirational, a display of courage that geno commends and even envies. he wishes he could have that kind of strength, he thinks, but at the same time, he also thinks the polar opposite, if only of himself. crying is a sign of strength, even for himself, yet only for himself, it’s a show of weakness, a loss of control, and unworthiness. if he’s crying, it means something has gone wrong... but he wants to be able to cry and for it to be something to make light of.
basically, the way he views handling emotions and the significance of it is a hot goddamn mess that his mind can’t make heads or tails of. it’s solid in other people, but when dealing with the self, whoof. that’s a whole ‘nother story.
the state of the world and what is in his jurisdiction is, funnily enough, a problem that he shares with his mother. his issues are, however, to a far lesser extent, as he is defecting from his lifelong teachings. he’s basically retraining himself to be of a different mindset here, one instilled upon him not because he morally aligns with it, but because he hadn’t a choice. he’s learning, trying to reconfigure himself to do what he thinks is right versus what he’s ordered to do, learning not to be afraid of repercussions from those who look down upon him. fearing his elders and what they may enact as punishment is something he no longer wants to do... but something so ingrained upon the mind is easier said than done. when it comes to such gripping terror, too, it can be difficult to muster up the courage to do so. good thing geno is a particularly brave being, eh?
here’s a little fun nugget for you, though. the fact that rosalina so devotedly follows that line of thinking in her hypocrisy contradicts what geno feels is morally correct. however, given her stellar treatment of him and her being his bonafide higher authority, his parental figure, he’d be far more reluctant to quarrel with her about it. he doesn’t want to lose the one shred of family he has left that actually cares for him. that is perhaps his greatest moment of actual cowardice, the only thing geno has a lot of trouble standing up to now, at least to the point of not following through. for someone striving to be his own person without any sort of command above his head, he sure bends the knee a lot to rosalina. good luck breaking him of that.

thinking abt a civilian dabitwice au where dabi ends up possessed by a demon that uses the low self-esteem, internalized homophobia, and toxic masculinity enji instilled in him as well as his rocky familial relationships to keep him emotionally wounded (and thus easier to possess) until he's mentally frayed.
