MNRE directs all DISCOMs to fast-track rooftop solar commissioning before June 1, 2026 ALMM-II cell requirement deadline
The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy has directed DISCOMs to fast-track rooftop solar commissioning.
The direction was issued through an Office Memorandum dated May 21, 2026.
It was addressed to DISCOM CMDs and MDs.
It was also addressed to heads of state electricity departments, state nodal agencies and chief electrical inspectors.
The objective is to expedite inspection and commissioning of rooftop solar PV projects before the ALMM-II deadline.
Projects installed or likely to be installed before May 31, 2026 need urgent commissioning.
Projects commissioned on or after June 1, 2026 will face stricter sourcing requirements.
They must mandatorily source both solar PV modules and cells from the ALMM List-I.
This makes the commissioning date commercially important.
A project installed before May 31 but commissioned after June 1 may face compliance complications.
