pmo so bad when people are like "both characters in this relationship are miserable so that means it's a mutually toxic relationship NOT an abusive one" I hate to break it to you but the average abusive relationship consists of a miserable black hole of a human being using interpersonal violence (whether emotional/verbal/physical) to bring their victim down to their level. also power imbalances can shift and invert over time, and it's not uncommon for victims to initially fight for the person who will go on to abuse them. this is because spite is a very powerful motivator for abuse and if you as a victim feel like you worked so hard to acquire/keep a partner you're more likely to buy into the sunk cost fallacy. no perfect victims etc
