elytrian mob concept !!
Heyyy about the moss sheep do you have a baby design? And also go make more what would you feed them? Do they need specific environmental needs to regrow moss? And what’s the speed of you’ve thought of it. Are they a more rare mob in relation to spawn RATE? I know they are pretty rare (I haven’t even found an azalea tree yet) or were you thinking of a small grove of trees that can support them every now and then? If that last one is already in the game sorry lol I’m trying to avoid googling stuff about the update and am relying on other ppl or my own playing.
Sorry abt the million trillion questions, you don’t have to answer all of them if you don’t want! I am just very interested in the little moss sheep and would love to know more about its logistics! If I worked for mojang I would ask if you would allow it to be out in base game but alas. I don’t know how to code lol. I love that little guy tho!!
No need to apologize, I'm glad to answer your questions! I guess ill start from the top since idk exactly what order to answer your questions though lol
Spawn rates and conditions; when a sheep spawns within a five block radius of a naturally generated azalea tree it has a 25% chance of spawning as a moss sheep.
Growing and harvesting moss; as a player you can harvest moss off of mossy sheep much like with normal sheep using shears, but unlike normal sheep they do not regenerate their moss by eating grass. after their moss is sheared they will lie down and roll on moss blocks or carpets, and then rest while it grows back, it will take0 a full minecraft day to grow. but you still wouldn't be ready to harvest again. their moss has to mature, which is marked by how dark it is. And only the matured moss will start to grow flowers and other plants. (see below)
Breeding; unlike standard sheep you cannot breed moss sheep with wool, if you were to you would not get a moss sheep but a normal sheep. to get another moss sheep you would need to find glow berries, which shouldn't be too hard if you've already found the sheep, as a lush cave is not too far away. but note that there are two types of moss sheep; Rams and Ewes, which you have to have one of each to breed successfully. Rams, are larger with horns and will act aggressively if a Ewe or lamb is hurt by any mob or player. Luckily they are seldom hunted by wolves, as their mossy coat confuses them, they think its just a bush!
Other things; moss sheep can only thrive in temperate climates with a fair amount of moisture, in cold climates the moisture in their mossy coats freezes and if left too long will slowly freeze and die, on the flip side hot arid climates cause their moss to dry up and they revert back to normal sheep. Moss sheep can NOT swim at all their heavy moss coats cause them to sink and drown. Occasionally they will shake their bodies and fling seeds spores and other plant life that has accumulated in their moss, it also grows grass and flowers around them like bonemeal! They will let the Lambs eat the plants growing on them, and Rams will also let Ewes graze from their backs as well.
And as far as having it actually be in game, my friends and I are looking into making our own mod pack where we plan to add the moss sheep along with a lot of other things for my AU Fire and Ice. So hopefully in the future you’ll be able to have this little buddy and lots more in your world :)
making this post again cos tumblr is mean
one of my mob ideas is a NETHERHOUND, like hellhound but for minecraft
theyre slightly bigger than wolves and do slight burning damage when they bite you, they can appear in packs of up to 5 and like wolves if you hurt one the rest will hurt you. they can get aggro if you get too close but you can give them bones or coal to calm them down. fire and lava dont harm them but rain and water do
im not good at drawing it but their skeletal parts are similar to the wither skeletons (color/ design wise)
