"Breathe. Come on.. breathe, please..!" There's desperation and fear in her voice--she might be crying a little, too.
Post trauma angst starters.
He’s overworked himself yet again. To the point that he’s both MENTALLY and PHYSICALLY exhausted, and he honestly just wants to go to sleep; but there’s no time. He needs to find a way to get out of this place, and back to the Kingdom that’s relying on him, that needs him. So he doesn’t stop - carries on reading and making notes and more reading late into the night.
It gets to the point that he’s in desperate need of a drink and something to eat; something he’s neglected to do all day, instead staying locked away in his room. It doesn’t matter to him that it’s now two in the morning.
He makes it about halfway down the stairs of the castle before he starts to feel dizzy, the sickening feeling in the pit of his stomach rising rapidly until he feels like he’s going to throw up. He doesn’t know if it’s the lack of sleep or food or hydration but what he does know is that he’s wobbling on shaky legs and then crashing to the floor, landing in a heap with one hand clutching on to the banister and the other flat against his head as though to stop the pain.
Leo can’t see straight, vision blurry and he can’t breathe. It SCARES him, and he’s panicking, only serving to make it all worse.
Then suddenly there’s a face in front of him, peering worriedly at him and he still has the overwhelming feeling that he’s going to pass out. He feels weak and it DISGUSTS him. The prince shrinks away from the other, pulling away because he could never accept someone’s help. Leo doesn’t want this feeling, and a hand bunches over his chest because he’s not wearing armour, not wearing the thing he feels secure in, instead he’s just wearing loose nightclothes that leave him so defenseless.
“ Breathe. Come on.. breathe, please..! ”
He can make out the voice to be Selena’s, and he’s loathe to admit that it does make him feel a little better. Her voice is edged with fear and desperation, and there’s a crack in her voice. She places a hand on his shoulder, shakes him a little, and this time Leo doesn’t shrink away. He feels like her voice has pulled him back down to earth, and he breathes again; takes in a big gulp of air and then everything is spinning back to reality again.
When his vision steadies, he can see her face clearly, can see the tear marks down her cheeks, cheeks flushed red because of the crying. He SCARED her; made her WORRY. All of a sudden a crashing wave of guilt washes over him as he calms himself. His body is still shaky as he brings himself to look up at her, and he’s half expecting her to yell, but there’s only fear in her eyes.
Pounding in his head subsiding, he reaches out a shaky arm to give her a pat on the head. But it feels too simple for the worry he put her through. So instead, he wraps thin, unsteady arms around her and pulls her into an awkward embrace. He’s not used to this sort of thing, but he feels bad.
“ I’m sorry, I’m okay now. I’m fine… thank you for helping me. ”
