Okay y'all helping me pick. I'm doing an awful little gay project because I AM A HOMOSEXUAL.
So we all know I'm doing my spiritual bestie Oscar.
But I have choices.
I might put Poe on there because he's a token straight friend.
Walt Whitman boinked with Oscar I'm pretty sure.
Lawrence Ferlinghetti is an option.
Allen Ginsberg is also an option. I'm leaning his way.
Richard Blanco had a crush on Obama.
And because no good list is complete without a girlboss I think Emily Dickinson should be required.
But what do you all think? I need five poets (and three poems per poet) so gimme suggestions.

I knew what books she liked, because she put them on a shelf and lent them to her customers--gloomy horror stories, Gothic novels with crumpled covers featuring a drawing of a Bat. Perverted monks, severed hands that murder people, coffins flushed out of graveyards by a flood. Evidently reading this sort of thing confirmed her in the conviction that we are not living in the worst of worlds, and taught her optimism.

the biggest thing quarantine took away from me was being in a library. that’s what i miss. stepping through the door and instantly being surrounded by all that knowledge, and physically feeling it as i walked through the aisles.
going through each section and plucking books at random that catch my eye, ordering a black coffee from the cafe downstairs, settling into a nice armchair and turning to the first page of whatever was in my hands.
