mothmom book length post:
The construct of manmade society was designed to counteract the intent of the family structure. Men and women—parents—spend more hours a day working than they do with their family. If they work eight to four, that’s eight hours they’re spending away from their family. They would have to stay up until at least midnight to get in eight hours of family time after they get home from work.
Most people don’t stay up that late because they have to get up early for work the next morning. More time is dedicated to work and making money to survive in a system that perpetually works against the family.
From an early age—five years old in most states—children are forced to leave their family, their parents, and go to public school every day. From the time they catch the bus in the morning (approx. 6:40 a.m.) to the time they get home after school (approx. 3:45 p.m.), the children are away from their family for eight hours a day.
And again, most kids do not stay up until midnight because they have to get up at the crack of dawn for school the next morning. Weekends (two whole days) DO NOT make up for forty hours or more a week that families miss with each other.
Families are torn apart. Parents get divorced. Kids turn to trouble. Distractions. Poverty. Substance abuse. Bills you can’t pay. Just trying to buy food each day. Barely enough gasoline to get to work. Evenings and weekends, you’re exhausted from working your life away unto a system of consumerism and material gain.
But what do any of us really gain? Do we gain peace of mind, a peaceful life? Happy family, happy marriage...
