Very entertained by the idea of a wizardly equivalent of a YouTube star. Somebody who tests new spells with a scrying mirror broadcasting it to all.
“This one’s supposed to make a designated object levitate, but the last levitation spell I tried from this grimoire ended with an artistic spray of pixie dust and miscellaneous herbs across the ceiling — can you see that? Let me tilt the frame. Yeah, it’s sparkly and pretty and no cleaning spell has been able to touch it. I’ve decided that it adds to the decor. Anyways, let’s hope we don’t get an uglier stripe today! I am wearing my oldest robe just in case.”
[Hi I’m gonna use our lil modern AU for this cause why not ♥]
Adalynn wakes to darkness, vision piercing through the veil of night and highlighting her room.
Quiet. Everything where it should be, plants on every surface and door closed tight.
She is exhausted, and it’s clearly nowhere near morning, so she scowls, wondering why she’d woken - only for the arm around her waist to squeeze again, the cool skin of her bed partner sending a shiver right up her spine as he presses his nose to her shoulder and exhales deeply.
Astarion. she lays there a moment, brain slowly catching up, He stayed.
They’d had dinner, a few drinks, then returned to the house for... other things. But truthfully, she hadn’t been sure if the man was the type to stay, or if she’d be waking to an empty bed.
She thinks, for a moment, that perhaps he’d been intending to get up, and that’s what had woken her - until his arm squeezes her again, voice sleepy and sinful as he mumbles at her.
“Adalynn, Darling, it is far too early to be awake.” Astarion pauses to yawn, and then he’s shifting, red eyes glinting down at her in the low light from the moon, “What thoughts trouble you?”
She would claim that she’s unused to sharing a bed, but considering the times she and Vehn have passed out together on the couch, that would be a lie... she thinks.
“I suppose I’m... a little surprised.” she admits, going with the truth, “I wasn’t sure if you would stay.”
Astarion studies her for a moment, his expression hard to read - before a slow smirk spreads across his lips, chuckling quietly.
“My Dear, while it is true that I have left one-time bed partners shortly after doing the deed in the past... that is very much not what I am after, here.” he bends, lips a hairs breadth from hers as he speaks, “I rather enjoy our time together, Adalynn. And I should like to continue seeing you - and if that means more amazing sex, then so be it. But no matter what anyone insists - I am very much interested in you, and not anything else.”
Adalynn smiles, pressing up on her elbow to meet him - a gentle, sleepy kiss, much different then the fiery touches they’d shared just hours ago. Somehow, though, this feels more intimate. Like a sort of promise.
“I’m glad.” she whispers as he pulls away, settling back in behind her with his arm back around her waist, “I’m happy you stayed.”
Astarion gives her a squeeze, chuckling again. “Don’t worry, Darling. I’ve no plans to go anywhere.”
