So I recently visited an exhibition at Liverpool Tate Art Gallery. My main reason to go was because I've always had an interest in Mondrian, especially his works surrounding the concepts of urban environments and his abstract interpretation of trees and nature.
The exhibition was good, yet I was a little let down because I do prefer more traditional forms of art, but in terms of Mondrian's practices, the works which were displayed were mostly his simplistic, geometric pieces.
There was another exhibition on at the same time which explored the works of Nasreen Mohamedi. Her work was not to my taste, but she did demonstrate some interesting concepts in terms of the way she would take everyday photographs and square off a small random section before transforming this into a piece of abstract art. I think I might try this myself over summer!
