Tuesday 12th October

Lessons today:

• chemistry from 9:15 until 12:00

• maths from 14:15 until 15:30

Today I got into college at 8:45 and sat in one of the computer rooms just going over the PowerPoint presentations for today's lessons. In my chemistry class we worked on some more advanced molar volume questions. Then during my free period I went over cell ultrastructure in the library. In maths we continued our work on equations of lines, eventually moving over to the big whiteboards to work in smaller groups on advanced questions; which I always really enjoy.

Thursday 7th October

Lessons today:

• maths from 9:15 until 12:45

• chemistry from 12:45 until 14:00

• maths from 15:30 until 16:30

My teacher didn't actually turn up to my 9:15 class so I took the opportunity to study quadratics before we move onto another topic. Then I met my friends to grab some lunch and we went over flashcards together for each of our subjects to focus on active recall. Very helpfully, my chemistry teacher didn't turn up either, so I headed to the library with some friends and we worked on our understanding of moles in more advanced chemical equations. My final lesson of the day was maths and my teacher did in fact show up this time! We did some revision of the topics we taught ourselves this morning and then did some exam questions before heading home. I plan to bring my flashcards with me to rehersals tonight to do some quiet revision in my breaks for my biology test tomorrow.

A Note on Molar Values

Extensive and Intensive Properties

An extensive property depends on the size of the system (moles). An intensive property does not; it is intrinsic to that system. Remember the different notation for molar volume? This is because volume is an extensive property. Temperature and pressure are intensive.
