facebook college mom groups are so funny because it's filled with helicopter parents with inept children who can't make their own fun calling it the school's fault.
for example:
hi moms!!! i need HELP! my poor baby son tumothy can't find anything to do this weekend!!! :( he doesn't drink or smoke, (i know, i'm a lucky mom!) and he's having a hard time figuring out what to do!! it seems like NO ONE around here is like my son. (i'm ignoring the 200 other posts and comments on this page with people saying their children don't drink either because it doesn't fit my "sweet, special boy" narrative.) does anyone have any ideas for things my sweet baby boy can do? also, should i be suing the school for not catering to his every whim. i know there's every facility you can humanly imagine on campus, but my baby has special taste :((((
and then all the comments are moms being like "burn down the school!!! sue them for all they're worth!!!!!"
Started “The Perfect Mother” by Aimee Molloy I’m 40 something pages in and I’m really enjoying it. I think it helps that I’m literally in a Mother’s Club based on our babies birth year and MONTH. They are the “May Moms” and we are “January Moms”. A lot of the humor hits home with me because I’ve literally met mothers with exact traits of the characters in the book!
I couldn’t sleep that night and I don’t think I’ve read a “mommy discussion thread” since. I don’t know if this is an actual thing that happens or if I just found an awful group of non-animal-lovers, but our cats are still gonna be our babies once ✨the baby✨ is here. They’ll just also be HER babies as she gets older. Gohan hasn’t been sleeping cuddled up to the baby bump to NOT become her best buddy. 😤
I just left the group because I'm honestly not getting anything out of it and it's toxic, so I can't get a screenshot now, but I have to share my last interaction on a fb mom group:
OP: Why is my 6 year old pooping himself when he's distracted by things he enjoys? I took him to the dr because I suspected IBS, but they said it was behavioral.
*lots of people suggesting punishments/rewards*
Commenter: It could be adhd or autism.
Me, replying: seconding this. I have both and it can be difficult to realize I need to go to the bathroom, eat, or that a headache is coming on when I'm hyperfixated. Likely, though, if that's what it is, he'll be peeing himself as well.
Same commenter: Not true! It can be just pooping himself.
Me: You're right! It can. That's why I said "likely"
Ffs. I used the word "likely" in place of "adhd/autism is a good place to start, but if you talk to a behavioral specialist, and they don't agree, that may be a valid assessment and there could be other reasons your son is pooping himself." If I had decided that not peeing himself meant he COULDN'T POSSIBLY have adhd/autism, there really wouldn't have been much point to most of my comment.
I really hate mom groups.
i wish mom groups weren’t filled to the brim with white moms who act like they’re so cool when really they are not-so-secret racist conservatives who clutch their pearls when i tell them i try not to do stuff like automatically gender my kid’s stuffed animals. Online mom groups are just women complaining/asking advice about their shitty husbands/boyfriends/baby daddies and how many fucking times can you write THROW THE WHOLE MAN AWAY before you wanna unalive yourself
and i’m not even saying i’m some kind of perfect mom.Lol I almost never know what’s going on at any given moment, but I try at least. And try not to be a douche while doing it. And I had a baby with a man who isn’t a disgusting manchild.
Baby led weaning group. A mom asked about giving her little the mini toaster pancakes and some woman got on and commented “we only make all natural pancakes and then freeze them to use later because we don’t eat processed foods” good for you Karen some of us are poor, work full time jobs and like spending time with our families instead of making from scratch pancakes for no fucking reason 🙄🙄🙄
