oh fuck I thought the intro to today's Money Stuff was going to be a metaphor for some crypto bullshit but no an actual metals futures market was backed by actual bags of rocks.

AMD: "That still doesn't seem fair."
OpenAI: "You know Oracle? They announced a deal with us and market cap went up $300b."
AMD: "Yeah but still..."
OpenAI: "Do you want your stock to pump or do you want to remain the Advanced Money Destroyer???"
If you have a moment again.
I won't drag on too much , it's near the end of the month and while still recovering from that settlement among other expenses and overtime that hasn't been paid out, as well as a possible need to switch jobs due to that.
I just need some help towards my portion of the mortgage I can't cover.
I'm about 500 CAD short, so that's the peak of my goal. If you have anything extra to help, or can share it around a bit I'd appreciate.
I hate to ask, but until I can full clear my own debt again or until my returns are in as proof of new income, getting any loan or credit still remains out of reach for a little longer.
I've added it as my Ko-Fi goal for tracking so people know I'm not getting more than needed, you can go through that here, or paypal directly (which I'll update goal as it goes).
Thank you again, I'm ashamed to feel the need to ask but this has been the only avenue I've found for getting that relief without dragging the rest of my family down.
Edit - Goal Reached. Restricting Reblogs. Thank you!

Money talk
For another couple weeks, I'm still employed full-time at the job FKA 'the main job' and the consulting gig is like 20+ hours per week. While it's a busy time, the money is spectacular.
Once I formally separate from FKA 'the main job', they have to pay out my unused PTO (thanks, California employee protections), which is like 3 weeks. That's almost a whole additional month of salary!
Now that I've got my CC debt consolidated in to two personal loans, the 'spend' on that debt is much more controlled and predictable, so this 'extra' money can all go to savings. I mean, I'm definitely getting myself a little treat, but I need to stack up those savings, too.
Merch Interest Check
Hi all! I still don't have a job and I'd like to have at least a loose income. I'm considering opening a small merch store as a result! Plea
Hello everyone! I say it in the form but I'll say it here too: I'm still unemployed, but an income source would be nice. I'll probably be able to open comms again soon, so keep an eye out for that, but in the meantime: possible merch!
I'd probably set it up as a small store initially with a limited pre-order window, at least at first, so that I can get an idea of what kind of stock I'd have to keep.
I've got a few ideas for things already, but I'd love to hear feedback! Don't hesitate to let me know what kinds of things you'd like to see up on the store.
It'd also mean a lot to me if you'd reblog the interest check too, but you obviously don't have to. I don't make a habit of asking for a reason.
Thank you so much and have a nice day!
This weekend another reader emailed me, saying that at her tech-adjacent finance job “there has been a huge internal push for everyone to master AI tooling these days, so I vibed up an IBD simulator game on Claude Code in this spirit.” The game is Sweatshaw & Co., a simulation in which you can pretend to be an investment banking analyst. Again I have not played it, but I pass it along to you in case you want to pretend to be an investment banking analyst, which is probably more fun than actually being an investment banking analyst.
should i vibe code one that completely non-factually emulates what it was like to work at tumblr in 2015?
Now you can buy me a coffee, if you want!
Okay, so after much nervous fussing about it, I've made a ko-fi!
Tip jar for this blog!
You can treat this like a tip jar, if you want-- but please DO NOT give me any money you don't have to spare! Everything on this blog will be free-- I am not going to gate content for people. But if you have extra, and you appreciate what I do, you can drop me a tip here.
(I will actually be so sad if you give me money you need for yourself =( please only do it if you have extra <3)
I will also use the ko-fi as sort of a news-only version of this blog-- I know I reblog a lot of stuff here, so if people only want to see when I announce events or post resources or something, you can follow me on ko-fi to get that!
Stripe + Paypal are enabled, and it should be set to the lowest possible minimum. Will rb this periodically, for anyone new + link in bio, pinned. If you want to make it disappear block #larkskofi
Thanks so much, everyone!
