Monster Bad - Last One Out, Get The Lights Please (2016)

Monster Bad really have pushed themselves with Last One Out, Get The Lights Please, 13 tracks spanning electronic, indie rock, emo, singer songwriter, and alternative rock, in a massively varied way. Whether it be The Front Bottom's vocal style echoing within the brilliant vocal work on 'Ursa', a tonally brilliant track that balances electronic indie rock and emo; the extreme jumps, such as 'Bee's heavy electronic leanings moving into the tortured and stripped 'Vermont'; or the interesting production on 'Katabasis', there's plenty here that will remind you of other acts and records, but in an inspired manner - Monster Bad putting their own spin on genre motifs, rather than coming across derivative. Despite the mass variety, the record never feels disjointed or tiring, but instead is a consistently great listen. Keep an eye on Monster Bad - they could definitely be somewhere in a record or two.
