But something has shifted. The past two years of uninterrupted massacre of death, met not with silence but with a new and furious clarity, have begun to trouble that arrangement. I no longer believe the refusal to allow Palestinians the capacity to theorize their resistance is merely about Palestine. It is, more dangerously, about the world. What is feared is not our liberation per se, but that resistance might become thinkable again. That it might circulate. That it might take root in other zones of abandonment. That the Palestinian, no longer the mute emblem of suffering, might become the figure through which the question of emancipation reenters the political imagination.

What we are witnessing is not merely a colonial relation between Israel and Palestine, but the enforcement of a structure—one whose operations exceed the geographic or juridical boundaries of the so-called space of the conflict, places like Gaza or the West Bank. There is a conditional sympathy that circulates widely, often cloaked in the language of humanitarian concern. But this sympathy functions, quite precisely, to salvage Zionism from its own contradictions. It offers a moral alibi while safeguarding the permanence of Israel not simply as a state, but as a form: a hinge in the architecture of the global order.

This is an order that requires the Eastern Mediterranean—historically the cradle of anti-imperial dreaming—to remain fractured, administrated, and violently unwhole. Zionism, in this configuration, is not a historical anomaly but a necessary instrument. Its continuance is essential to a geopolitical trinity that has governed the region since the colonial partitioning: the circulation of oil, the logic of capital accumulation, and the strategic dismemberment of Arab political possibility. In this sense, Israel is not just protected; it is structurally indispensable. To resist Israel, then, is not merely to engage a settler colony. It is to pierce through a wider imperial grammar, a grammar that depends on the unmaking of Arab futurity, the perpetual decomposition of political sovereignty, and the translation of every act of resistance into terror, every uprising into pathology.

3/9/26 - February Monthly Review

What were the biggest wins?

I joined OrangeTheory

I lost a little weight. I'm not sure how much exactly, but it was at least a few lbs.

I started counting calories in Lose It.

I maintained an A in economics (I passed in March with a B)

What were the biggest lessons learned / insights gained?

I need to be mindful of my body and take care of it. I need to identify when I can do more workouts, and when it's time to rest.

I need to be carefyl when scheduling OrangeTheory workouts so I don't get charged for canceling late.

Which life areas were lacking and why?

Business & Career - I don't know what I'm doing at work. I'm still learning, but I fear I'm in a dead-end job.

Finance - I overspent. I am learning how much I can safely spend in a month because I am making a significant, noticeable difference in income, which is much lower than it was previously. I need to plot out my finances and eliminate impulse spending. I decided to start earning rewards via workouts.

What tasks were not accomplished and why?

I didn't get down to 269 lbs. I think I set an unreasonable goal because I only started tracking calories, just shy of a month ago. I am getting closer this month. I think I might be able to get there by the end of March if I continue tracking my calories and stay within range.

I didn't drink enough water like I planned on. I lost my water bottle and it made it a little harder to drink enough water at work. Also, because we need to filter our water, it makes drinking enough water harder to do.

How do I feel about my progress?

Good! I had been a little stagnant in my goals before, but now I'm feeling like I'm making progress again because of making healthy lifestyle changes, like tracking calories and joining a gym.

I also feel good that I actually look forward to working out (for the most part) now. I prefer my weekend classes to any I attempt during weekdays.

I am looking forward to

Losing more weight

Breaking 269 lbs... I've been in the 270s for months.

Going down in sizes

Being able to show my doctor progress with my weight loss.

Things I will do to make myself happy next month

Plan a birthday get togerher with friends.

How I'll improve next month

I'll lose more weight.

I'll drink enough water daily (ha, not so far)

I'll go to the gym 9-12x in March. (I'm making good progress so far).

What did I like about this month?

I got to write two very sweet letters for love letter wrightworth, and am slowly working through the prose. I’ve got the plot down, but I want to go through the prose and build it up.

I’ve written bits of the second chapter; I’ll try to finish it in March. I’m going through possible titles for animal bride au, and it’s looking more and more likely the titles for this thing will be taken from bored like me . . .

I also got the outline for chap 2 of Autumn River up, and I’m gonna start working on it once I get a free day this month.

What did I want to do this month that I couldn’t?

Loads and loads, but I had exams and research approval to obtain. So I’m just happy I survived the month.

What do I want to accomplish next month?

Sort out and setup whatever I can for publication

Finish any one chapter of anything

Finish A Dictionary of Literary Symbols

As much as I'm not certain, I think the "Things to Try" section is here to stay.

And not because I think I have things I want to try, but rather it is an exercise in thinking about how I want to change. I am a person of routine, it is very hard to change things especially when I'm now doing so much.

But, it may be worth trying to try different things and making them a goal for the next month.

2024 YEAR IN REVIEW

I've done so much this year!!

Writing:

drafted all of my high school wip sssb which I thought was hopeless! draft 0 finished at 126k words

earlier in the year, i edited and rewrote portions of both avof2 and ds. they're both pretty much finished and i'm very satisfied with them ♥️

154k new words written; 92k words rewritten/edited in 3 projects

TOTAL: 246k words! The most ever I've written in one year!

Reading:

13 books including: romance, adventure, fantasy, superheroes, paranormal, nonfiction, and comic books

favorite: what manner of man by @stjohnstarling (with bombass cover by @beastliness)

🍂 highlights from october 🍂

what do i stand for? what do i stand for? most nights, i don't know anymore...

I realized just this month that that lyric is very applicable to me rn... With repeated burnout every school year, reality and dreams at constant odds, the multitude of well-meaning suggestions for me and my future, how i think people view me — my worldviews — and how i think they might be weighing me (consciously or subconsciously) against others in my life, and my personal desires that continue to go unfulfilled and so burn ever brighter until I feel so consumed by want I can't even remember why, I think I've slowly lost myself since I started uni. I'm trying to crawl my way back to her...the version of me who left high school feeling empowered and supported and so able to support others, on a mission to fulfill a purpose greater than herself and stay connected.

In other news, this month was a frenzy of midterms and assignments and (figuratively) frantically doggy-paddling to keep my head just barely above water (it's either that or i drown in schoolwork 😅) but you probably already knew that 😅🙃🫠

I like walking for fun (or while doing other things that are fun or just...not school) and would like to keep walking for fun even when i'm busy

the weather is getting so dry again all i want to do is dunk myself in a tub of moisturizer

there. now i've closed the book of october, i can turn over a new leaf in november. just bc it was significant doesn't mean you felt high. what were your highlights from october, whether they were highlights or not?
