》𝕄𝕠𝕠𝕕 𝕣𝕖𝕒𝕕𝕖𝕣 QOTD 》What should I read next? Should I stick with the Brontë sisters or just go full-on fantasy with actual vampires? I am such a mood(y) reader rn & my ability to commit is out the window with Catherine Earnshaw; like I'm about to run away with that shiny new fantasy read, wincing as I abandon the rest of this month's tbr. (Too far?) I'll probably stick with Emily Brontë this weekend, continuing through the rabbit warrens of Wuthering Heights literary analyses & film adaptations; I've rewatched the 1939 classic with Laurence Olivier & Merle Oberon, which wasn't very faithful to the original story at all, so now I'm determined to hunt down the 1978 BBC series. I'm also looking to score a used copy of the Vintage Classics edition & the annotated version. Wuthering Heights doesn't demand; it haunts. & even if you find little to love in the characters, you're compelled to read to the end. The response comes from your soul & there's both too much to say & nothing to say & you might not even notice at first how it works on you through layers of narration, insidious, even before the intense imagery, the brutality & desolation of both nature & man, hits you in the face & chest, repeatedly. I'm shook. It's a wild beast of a book, the very pages of which do little to contain it. & I think that's the point. I'd defy anyone to read this & not be forever changed. xo Noelani tl;dr: cont. in comments 》 #monthlytbr #tbrlist #tbrpile #toberead #bookstoread #whattoread #whattoreadnext #currentreads #instabookstagram #igreaders #classicbooks #classicliterature #goodread #moodreader #readerofinstagram #allsouls #allsoulstrilogy #janeeyre #charlottebronte #dreamsliebeneath https://www.instagram.com/p/CZAWLu2PCfv/?utm_medium=tumblr
