Month of Love prompt Song

I can be a bit literal sometimes.  So when I saw the prompt Song I immediately thought of bars of music and treble clefs.  So there are five tentacles (ha) coming from this tiara and a treble clef.  The crystals represent notes to the song along the bars.

For Month of Love 2019: Truth

The skin color around the eyes and bill of American Kestrels is brighter in birds that are more successful hunters, since this coloration comes from molecules called carotenoids that are found in their prey. The richer the orange coloration, the more likely the kestrel is a skilled hunter that can provide food for nestlings. In biology, carotenoid-based skin and feather coloration is an example of an honest signal, for no amount of deceptive behavior can change their skin color.

This is what I made for the prompt “truth” for last week of the Month of Love challenge. I can’t think of a romantic quote that has more truth to it...and sometimes what *your* heart wants may horrify everyone else.  :-)

I only found out about the Month of Love 2019 challenge partway through February, and now I see that there’s a corollary Month of Fear challenge in October. I think this piece might have been better in the Fear category...

--The truth is, dogs are the best.

When I was invited to join Month of Love a few years ago, I thought there’s nothing I can paint about affection and love. My interest was more suited for Month of Fear challenges. But when my husband and I adopted a rescue dog it changed. It became a tradition to do dog drawings every year for this challenge. So there you go, here’s this year’s doggo drawing.
