This is a common South Indian breakfast dish made from green gram moong dal and rice. It is also called moong dal dosa. It is soft on the inside and crispy on the outside. Coconut or tomato chutney is often served with it. Whole green gram is used in this dosa, which makes it both tasty and healthy.
Ingredients: 1 cup whole green gram moong dal. 1/4 cup rice. 2-3 green chilies. 1 inch piece of ginger. 1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds. A pinch of asafoetida hing. Salt to taste. Oil for cooking.
Instructions: Wash and soak the whole green gram moong dal and rice together for 4-5 hours. Drain the water and grind the soaked moong dal and rice along with green chilies, ginger, cumin seeds, and asafoetida to make a smooth batter. Add water as needed to achieve a dosa batter consistency. Add salt to the batter and mix well. Heat a non-stick pan or dosa tawa over medium heat. Grease it with a few drops of oil. Pour a ladleful of the batter onto the center of the tawa and spread it in a circular motion to make a thin dosa. Drizzle a little oil around the edges of the dosa and cook until the edges turn crisp and golden brown. Flip the dosa and cook the other side until it becomes golden brown and crispy. Remove the dosa from the tawa and serve hot with coconut chutney or tomato chutney. Repeat the process with the remaining batter to make more dosas.
