I feel like my posts make it seem like im pro weed? im pro using whatever works for you medicinally whether thats an SSRI or not, even recreationally as long as its being used safely. but as someone whos struggled with psychotic symptoms i will be staying far away from weed and any substance that messes with my brain chemistry quite frankly, dont wanna mess with that at all tbh LOL

Why is Japan Still Biased Against People with Disabilities? | Tokyo Life

Last year’s Sagamihara massacre put the country’s bias against people with disabilities in the spotlight. We look at the reasons behind the discrimination.

The Sagamihara massacre on July 2016 demonstrated Japan’s continued belief that disability should be hidden from society because of ijime (bullying). Japanese society continues to hold on to the moral model; that those who are disabled only bring shame, not just to the family, but to Japanese society as a whole. I suffered through ijime constantly at the hands of my classmates with no help from my teachers. They saw me as an embarrassment and shameful thing.

it makes me so upset how prevalent the moral model is when discussing those struggling with addiction

The question gets to the heart of a debate in psychiatry about what mental illness really is. In one camp are specialists who see underlying mental disorders, whether they’re caused by experience or biology, as universal. In the shadow of Sigmund Freud, many psychiatrists in the 20th century argued that basic human experiences shaped our psychological states — say, a child’s relationship with his father. The past few decades of psychiatry have seen a powerful shift toward looking for biological causes like mutated genes, faulty brain wiring, and chemical imbalances. But these, too, would theoretically appear in humans all over the world.
