It wasn't like he wasn't prepared for this question to come up, but he was surprised by it regardless.
He didn't wanted to worry about it too soon, but at the same time you did deserve a proper answer.
"There isn't much I could do... I definitely would cherish everything we had and be there for you untill your last breath... But as for what would happen next... I'm not yet sure"
It would take him a long time to get used to you not being around. He could only imagine how many times he'd forget that you've died only to be brought back to harsh reality.
Because with time to him all of it will seem like a dream that ended with a nightmare.
Zhongli
Although he's hiding among the mortals and his days as Rex Lapis are over, he still had a long life ahead of him... One that would surely outlive you if he doesn't fall due to different circumstances than age.
It took him some time to confess to you that he isn't mortal. Mainly because he just doesn't talk about it left and right. But when you ask him the question he doesn't even hesitate to answer.
"I'll carry you in my heart and memories until the day that I die" he spoke bluntly but you could feel the determination within.
It was the truth after all. He would cherish every moment he has with you. He'd basically use the time he has with you the best way he can. After your passing he'd just remember the times he had. Perhaps often ask himself "what would happen if you were here" too.
Osial
He was prepared for the fact that your life is fragile and may end any day. Still just the idea of losing you was making him mad.
So when you asked him what would he do after your death he almost scolded you.
"Don't even bring up such a grim scenario. I'll deal with it once I will have to face it" to him situation was simple. He has you here and when something takes you away there will be hell to pay.
There just was no telling what he'd do as he griefs your death... Your death might end up being not only a catastrophe for him but be correlated to a different one...

fun facts abt me working on it:
The first draft of this comic was done like a week before Guizhong’s cannon design was out. So I had to re-do her sketches as well as change all of her poses.
My friend “forced” me to do Aether version. Thus Aether was drawn without any sketches. I just had Lumine on 30% visibility and drew over her for proportions lol
I forgot so many things and I was fixing it mid-work so often it’s kinda embarrasing to admit all of the things I forgot about.

How about, Morax, Ei and Venti meeting the reader who is a god and before the Archon war broke out, they went somewere or something and took a long nap. And just now woke up.
So in short, how would the Archon Trio react to a god that slept through the entire Archon war?

There was a lot on his mind, but he had no time for anything as of late. Although his face as always remained stoic, and he didn't show any signs of stress either.
That's when he came upon an odd domain. He certainly didn't see it earlier, in fact it looked rather hidden.
So he entered it without a single care, he wanted to make sure that nothing suspicious is going on so he didn't exactly explore it.
It was small and the only thing that stood out to him was a figure napping in the middle.
He approached you and recognized you. You were a God that was said to be missing. You disappeared just before the war and now he had found you here. Perhaps you were here for all those years?
Then, he had no time to wonder as you woke up. When you noticed him, you greeted him. While he didn't ask about anything regarding your situation, he had greeted you as well.
He figured it wasn't his business as to why you were here. And since everything was okay, he decided to leave.
You didn't plan on sleeping more so you joined him as the two of you got out of there.
You noticed a lot of changes and eventually asked what happened to everything around Liyue.
He bluntly said without much detail about the war. He wasn't surprised you missed it now that he saw what he saw.
And while he did envy you, he simply didn't care enough to have any opinions of you.
You just happened to take a long nap before the war began. It wasn't really planned on your part and nobody even looked for you. At least nobody he knew didn't.
He didn't offer to help you adjust but if you wanted to know what happened with more detail he'd tell you the story.
He'd appreciate it though if you could wait a moment... After all he needs to settle few things here and there.
If you're willing to accompany him, then by all means. He could answer your questions when he has time.
But he wasn't anyhow friendly towards you. His responses to your questions were short. He didn't look very pleased with your company either.
Ei
As the war ended she felt nothing but emptiness. Before closing herself in though, she went on a walk.
She had no idea herself why she was doing it but her legs carried her on their own. Perhaps she just needed a moment to collect herself and the peaceful outside was just enough for it to be possible.
Then she heard an unusual sound. As she looked for the source she found a small cave.
Although it wasn't any of her business her curiosity made her enter.
As she looked around it was near impossible to not notice you sleeping in the middle of everything.
She didn't really recognize you so she immediately prepared herself for a possible fight.
But before she decided to strike she asked you to identify yourself. Her loud voice caused you to wake up and she ended up having to repeat herself.
As you explained your situation to her she didn't believe you. Not because she found that scenario impossible, but because she didn't trust you.
But since she had no reason to strike you down, just this once she put away her weapon and left without another word.
If you decided to follow her around she simply ignored you at first. She of course stayed on her guard and was ready to protect herself from you should she have to do so.
As you walked in silence she started thinking how much you've missed if your story is really true. Not that it was a bad thing. In fact she wished none of this even happened.
Then again she was sure what she'll do the second she comes back to Inazuma city.
So after that, you didn't hear from her again.
Barbatos
Finally taking a break after the war felt amazing. He sat down with his back resting against a tree ready to fall asleep.
Of course there is still a lot to be done, but perhaps it was for the best to just let himself rest.
Before he got to close his eyes he saw flickering light and of course he decided to check it.
It lead him to a cave. The light turned out to reflect on a few offerings your followers left you before your slumber.
You were gone for so long, nobody visited you anymore since nobody knew where you were.
But to think that you've actually slept through war? Especially one as brutal. No sound from outside was enough to wake you it seems.
He left the cave as he had decided to let you sleep. Before he left however you managed to wake up.
You didn't recognize him, but of course that's because last time you saw him he was smaller... And completely different in general...
He greeted you and re-introduced himself. After that you had a friendly chat.
You ended up staying in the cave for a while as you caught up with what was happening during your sleep.
Barbatos had a really interesting way of describing the history to you... But it didn't stop you from having mixed feelings due to the war you slept through.
But from that point, he helped you adjust to the new world. It wasn't hard but he ended up looking for excuses to talk to you anyways.

I recall one request about a god reader Dumping Ei and Morax, because they didn't want to take part in the Archon war. I know there were already letter in the request after they found out that the reader was alive and well after the war
So I'm here for something diffrent
Morax writing an unsent letter to the reader during the Archon war, maybe him saying how much he misses you and regret letting you just leave? But not sending it. Perhaps him trying to justify his decision?

The purpose of unsent letters is for the person to find it so this is continuation from reunion ending!

You had a lot to get used to, but living in modern Liyue "as a mortal" was rather charming. But you still couldn't forget about how coldly Zhongli treated you back when you announced your departure.
His silence was cruel. While you know he apologized it just didn't sit right with you that he just accepted losing you without a fight and now pretends like nothing ever happened.
You were sitting at the table with Cloud retainer and you decided to bring up the issue. You weren't prepared for the adeptus' response "One is surprised on how clueless you are. Hadn't Rex told you about his letter for yourself? Not only that but upon your disappearance one had to witness him often looking into the distance almost as though he thought you shall manifest before him"
Now you were curious about that letter. But the thought of him missing you so much was rather... Sweet.
Once you came back to meet up with him you brought up what you had learned. He was slightly surprised but it didn't look like he tried to hide anything "I'm sorry, I wasn't sure if it was appropriate of me to show it to you for I thought we moved past that times... Give me a moment" Oh you know what 'a moment' means in his dictionary so you followed him with intentions to help him find the letter.
But his brilliant memory did make it so he immediately got it. Without hesitation he passed it to you.

Ever since you've left Liyue the only feeling that I've felt was regret. To be more precise: regret of not fighting for you to stay. I had just now realized that I may never see you again. I believe that's what it takes for that stone heart of mine to slowly crumble, for I care about more than anyone else in existence. I know I'm not the best at expressing my emotions but please believe me when I say that I love you.
At the same time, I can't give up on this battle. You may not like it and I don't plan on convincing you to take my side over your own. All I want is for you to understand it and make your own judgement moving forward. Perhaps once everything's over I could tell you about it in person. Or perhaps I'm a fool for even trying to reach out to you. Either way I will never let myself forget you.

You stared at it for a moment "Why didn't you send it?" you asked "... Because I didn't think that I was worthy of you" he answered "I knew I hurt you deeply and it made me think a lot. So I suppose I was too afraid to send it, thinking I'd only further anger you" he added.
And here you thought he stopped caring, as you were now made aware of the reality you hugged him. You were glad it was all over and you have him with you again.

Can I request headcanons of Ei and Morax, back in the day when the Archon war started. The reader also being a god and refusing to take part in such a pointless war, is disgustedby their lover taking part in it. So they take their followers and leave to the dark sea, never to be seen again in teyvat.
Couple hundred years later a priest of the reader comes to Ei's and Morax's nation, for reasons.
How do they react, well, to everything. To the reader leaving, their priest coming to their nations, bringing the Aura of the reader. Showing that they are alive and well, without them.
That's rather angsty and I love it!... But hey we have branch endings again!

Ei
You didn't even have to ask her what was she planning regarding the war. For Ei is a warrior she was able to sacrifice even her feelings for you in order to preserve eternity of Inazuma.
The war brought her only losses, her dear friends among her sister and you. After everything was over she felt empty.
Sometimes she wondered if everything was a mistake. If she just took a second to think would she be able to convince you to stay? Or would you be able to convince her to leave with you?
But as the years passed she stopped asking those questions and focused on her meditation.
After all the changes that happened and accepting of change she started to miss you even more. Perhaps if you were here for her, or if she would agree to ignore the war things would've turned out differently.
Just when she started to think of you again the priest who you sent on a mission appeared.
She immediately felt the sense of familiarity even without seeing the Aura.
"Y/N..." she said before priest had the chance to explain everything to her. But it turns out he didn't need to.
She could feel that you were doing great, which she was happy for.
It made her long for you and thus she gave the priest a flower in which she locked her words she wished she could say in person. She knew she could just write a letter but she thought you'd be more sure it's her speaking if she records it.
"Y/N I'm happy to hear that you are alive and well, a lot had happened since you left, no matter how hard I've tried to prevent it. One event after another tampering with eternity was... Exhausting. But now the city of Inazuma is not like how it used to be... My point being that I'd like for you to visit, unless you still hold grudge against my past actions. That I can understand so please do not feel pressured to come. Alas I'll either await your message or your arrival"
(If you ignore her) She couldn't say she didn't expect it. After all she didn't even ask for your answer. She lived her life like she did before although she had to get over you for a second time.
(If you visit her) When she first saw you she thought she was hallucinating but when you said her name she snapped out of it. Without thinking or saying anything she hugged you closely, almost like she didn't wanted to let you go ever again.
Zhongli
When te war had started you were mad to hear that he will take part in it. He was stubborn and although he didn't say much it was more than enough to hurt you.
So, since he was so insistent on fighting you let him have it. You warned him that if he lifts up his weapon you're leaving and never coming back.
His pride doomed him and he didn't change his mind. He didn't even ask you to reconsider your departure. He just let you go without even fighting for you.
He lived to regret it as with each day for all those years he missed you dearly.
Although he moved on, he finds everything that reminds him of you as a happy memory even though you had a bitter ending.
He was but enjoying his free time listening to old legends, and that's when the priest had arrived.
He politely welcomed him and soon his memories were to be awakened yet again. Your Aura was something he was focused on, smiling although he couldn't help but feel ever so slightly sad.
In the end he was glad that you were okay. He decided to write a letter to you but he didn't expect any response.
Dear Y/N,
Although our shared path ended years ago I am glad that you've made the effort to reach out to me. I can only hope that you feel happy and complete with your life. On my end I can admit that I am not the same person as I once was, for I am living life that of a mortal rather than Morax. Yet consequences of my stubbornness are something I'll have to deal with for the rest of my life. While I do have my regrets I believe the biggest one is letting you go. Should you want to see me again I'd be more than happy to meet you in Liyue.

(If you ignore him) He understood and respected your decision. Even though he still had feelings for you he couldn't possibly force you to anything even when it means that his heart would be broken yet again.
(If you visit him) He was speachless when he saw you, but you were used to him not talking much, however you didn't know how talktive he grew over the years... You were made aware of that shortly after though. Whenever you had any questions about the changes his answers were very detailed. It was very noticeable how much he'd changed, he was kind, gentle and you couldn't believe the person who stood before you was Morax.
