The thing is that Maul: Shadow Lord could have Maul mention to his apprentice that on Lotho Minor he went so insane he hallucinated a serpent that guided and spoke to him as his companion for years and people not familiar with TCW will be like Whoa it’s an allegory for Satan.
People who watched TCW though will be like. It’s an allegory for Satan. But wait a minute. That snake was real, what’re you talking about Maul! And it’d be a hilariously subtle gag that either way conveys the idea that Maul was insane and had a tenuous grasp on reality if he wasn’t even sure if his only companion was a figment of his imagination or not. And also acknowledges that Morley is kind of an absurd character, esp in the larger context of Maul’s otherwise serious life story.
