Oh girlfriend, what is she like, Morpheus?

"Ah man, my girlfriend! God, what can I say about her... her name is Mari, and she's Mr. Shadow's... third oldest? Behind Sanctum and his first daughter, Rosi. Her parents kinda... don't like her very much, they saw her as a mistake the same way Shadow saw Sanctum as one. He actually was the one who brought her home one day, and the whole reason we met! She's super strong and resilient, but she also knows that it's okay to cry, and that's really inspiring to me. And she calls me Mori, and it just makes me giggle... Actually, everything about her just makes me giggle! The weird looks she gives me to cheer me up, the way she laughs whenever I start melting around her, the smile she gives me when I give her more clothes. She's so beautiful, and funny, and kind, and I love her so so so much.... Uh, that's kinda rambly though... Sorry ^^"

So… Sanctum. How does he exist? What’s his relationship to Shadow? What happened between Shadow and Espio? What happened to Sanctum?

Better I answer this one. Neither Sanctum or Morpheus like talking about what happened :3

So, Sanctum was, in Shadow's own words, a mistake. They were young and stupid (like, 17. I mean YOUNG), and Shadow and Espio's relationship didn't quite work out, and by the time they realized that there was going to be a child in the picture, Shadow had already given up on it. Especially because hybrid children are sickly. That was the last straw. He didn't want another Maria. So Espio became a single father. He hated it. But he persevered.

As for what happened to Sanctum... Morpheus can't quite remember. He was pretty sure it was his dad who killed him, as a way of trying to control him. But maybe even telling him that was a manipulation tactic too. Morpheus believes he was the one who killed Sanctum. Whatever did happen, Morpheus blames himself.
