Princeton, N. J.—This is now one of the most flourishing places in our sister state, and various handsome buildings are being erected there with astonishing rapidity. Among these are the new college edifice, which is nearly finished; two halls for the use of public societies; a new Presbyterian church; a new African church, (built by the Methodists,) and a banking house.

Throwback Thursday: West College, ca. 1948. West College was Princeton University's second dormitory. Built in 1836, it housed students until 1964, when it was repurposed for administrative offices. In 2017, West College was renamed Morrison Hall in honor of Toni Morrison.

Throwback Thursday: Eight unidentified students hanging out on Princeton’s campus, ca. 1865. Recreational pursuits have changed; we haven’t seen a student in a top hat watch two others box while another plays the guitar on the lawn in front of Nassau Hall in quite some time. The building visible in the background of the photo is either East or West College. East College was razed in 1896 to make room for Pyne Library. West College is now named Morrison Hall.
