In the name of the holidays, have a quick sketch of my 4 Inquisitors committing a late night kitchen raid for sweets
DAI Headcanons
Morwen and Dagna in the Undercroft of Skyhold for hours. All the rest of the fortress can hear is Dwarven and Elven cursing, loud explosions and girlish giggling. Whatever it is they’re up to down there probably isn’t good
Josie: Should we stop them?
Leliana: Only if you’re game to go down there and find out what they’re up to
Josie: ...
Cullen: ...
Leliana: Didn’t think so
Thinking about post-trespasser, Morwen has disbanded the Inquisition deeming their job done and unwilling to remain a huge force with people vying for her downfall or to control her. She's seen so much death, tragedy, she wishes not to continue the cycle for those who have come to follow her. She wishes them home, to their families, to live in the peace that they help to create.
I'm thinking about how she is happy with Cullen, married and protected and loved, safe, but there's a hollow feeling that creeps up every now and again when her mind wanders to her clan. What would the keeper think of Cullen? What would they think of her achievements? Would the clan be proud? Would they hate her? Would they accept her new way of living? It feels a little strange to her to settle in just one place, to have roots, where before she had never known what it was like to cement a foundation because there was never enough time to do so; always on the move, always looking for the inevitable shift.
She also has nightmares, glimpses of a future that never came to pass, thoughts and feelings that she can't find in herself to fully share the extent of because why worry her husband with something that has never come to pass. But Cullen can hear the hushed whispers of a desperately tired Morwen in the early hours of the morning, away from their bed, somewhere she thinks he can't hear her, as she speaks with Dorian through the sending stone. Because they lived it, but there's a powerlessness she refuses to show to Cullen. Eventually, they do talk, about everything, all the things they've both collectively been through, the pain, the anguish, the happier times. They're both left a little broken after all of it but Morwen finds comfort in him, she feels safe, protected, listened to.
And dammit, if you don't think that Morwen turns to his sisters, Mia and Rosalie, when her period is late, when there's the possibility that she's pregnant then you'd be wrong. Even though Cullen has his struggles keeping in contact with his family, Morwen keeps in constant contact with them. When Mia receives a letter with Morwen's worries, she is packing her bags and marching over to help.
Cullen finding out he's going to be a father though asdfghjk like Morwen is excited, nervous, scared- they never talked about kids.
When she takes his hands in hers, fingers twisting the wedding ring on his finger as she tries to find the words to explain what is happening, he becomes worried. Has something happened, is she hurt? Has someone harmed her or said something to her? She looks like she's about to cry- he can't have that, he hates seeing her cry-
He leans forward, their foreheads bumping together as he quietly and very tentatively whispers, "what's going on?"
She smiles, wide, eyes watery, and says "you're going to be a father" and Cullen stops functioning.
Did he hear her right?
A father?
Him?
His silence has her smile faltering and when he feels her hesitation in her grip, how it loosens marginally alongside the flicker of panic in her eyes, he immediately wraps his arms around her and pulls her close. He buries his head into the crook of her neck, letting out a short laugh, then a "you're sure?" "Yes, I'm sure."
and they've never looked happier-
GUYS I'VE ONLY BEEN THINKING OK
might ramble some more about them later idk
Morwen: 🎀🧸 !
RUTHIE!!! 💖😌 hello dear!
Omg Morwen- my dearest Inquisitor. I love her so much.
Here we go!
🎀 — Tell me a fact about them
Morwen is able to use a bow though not with as much skill as someone who is an archer by trade. When she was younger and before her magical talent manifested, she was going to be trained as a hunter for the clan. So she’s able to track and as has sufficient skill with a bow. Of course, when her innate talent manifested, the keeper took her under their wing and started to train her to harness the magic she had at her fingertips with the intention for Morwen to later take over that role herself.
This never came to be as the Lavellan Clan perished amongst the carnage Corypheus wrought over Thedas, despite the inquisition’s best efforts to reach them and protect them, as ordered by Morwen.
🧸 — How they comfort someone they love
It depends on who it is and the kind of love that she has for them:
• Cullen: she married to the guy, she loves him with her whole heart and whenever she sees him in need of comfort whether due to emotional pain or physical, she will do whatever is practically necessary to offer him comfort. She’ll take care of him when injured or sick, checking on him etc.
If he’s struggling mentally, night terrors or remembering memories he’d rather forget? It’s soft touches, featherlight to begin with, a reminder that she’s there. If he invites her in (which he usually does) she tends to hold him, running a hand though his hair, little kisses wherever she can reach (if they’re standing and she was to kiss his forehead, he has to lean down bc he’s much taller than her).
I suppose best way to say she comforts Cullen is with compassion, patience and gentleness. She doesn’t push him when she can see it’ll do more damage, she just tries to be open enough for him to feel safe with her. She wants to be his soft place to land when everything else seems that little bit too rough, too sharp.
• Her children: Rah’len is very much like her dad in that, to begin with, if she’s struggling to express what’s going on, she’ll act a little frustrated. She’ll huff and puff, get a little haphazard with how she’s putting things down etc. Morwen knows something is bothering her daughter and that she doesn’t really know how to express it. So Morwen will always ask her to tag along when she goes out for a walk and to forage for herbs.
At first Rah’len will huff, but then as the two start the task Morwen will talk to her about anything, showing her the different trees, plants, flowers, bugs and birds and animals. She’ll point out tracks - after a while Rah’len doesn’t feel as frustrated, or as caught up in her emotions and then she finds she’s able to talk. So, when Rah’len needs comfort, she tends to ask Morwen to go foraging - it’s the space then to collect herself and talk, but at her pace. I suppose the way Morwen comforts Rah’len is patience? And the occasional hug.
• Her children: Often, Tobias will want physical comfort, hugs, holding your hand or arm; when he was a toddler, he would always crawl into bed with his parents and lay between them, but demand that both of them have their arms around him. Sometimes though, he just needs affirmation and Morwen knows exactly what to say to calm him down and make him feel better.
A little bonus bc I also want to mention Tobias and Cullen’s relationship; when Morwen isn’t around to comfort their son, Cullen will ruffle his hair, let his hand linger before pulling him close and giving him a tight hug. He won’t let go until Tobias wants to let go, then he’ll hold him at arms length, hand on his so son’s shoulder. He’ll give it a squeeze before sending Tobias off with a curt nod and a small reassuring smile.
• Her friends: Morwen tries to comfort her friends by being there for them and listening to them, then doing what she can within her power to help. Specifically with Dorian, who is her best friend, she finds sharing a glass of wine (when they’re together and during their inquisition days) and having a good chinwag and discussing topics of his choosing tends to make him feel better. Once the inquisition is disbanded, they still talk and do this kind of comforting discussion past time, only via sending crystals instead!
THANK YOU FOR THE ASK!! Hope you like this little tidbit of info!!! 🥹💖

One of Trevelyan’s older sisters is a mage, and he finds her at Redcliffe after yelling at Alexius (their meet up goes poorly :’>)
(But don’t worry, they talk more at Skyhold and their relationship gets a lot better. Cole helps.)
