My rutine is always subject to change depending on where I may find myself. These products are my staples and I use them almost everyday. I like to use a product for a while before I would recommend it to someone. I believe the info we pass to others should be at our best interest especially when it comes to hair.
I emphasize on having a good balance of protein and moisture and the Hydratherma Naturals product line helps me do just that. I have relied on them for a number of years and I have recommended them to numerous women who are going natural.
I have an extended video on my rutine but for now I just want to highlight the actual products that I use before I get into (how) I use them.
This step does not work unless the hair is cleansed thoroughly. Normally I use black soap or clay soap to make sure the hair is at it cleanest state. At times I may use apple cider vinegar to open my hair cuticle and even the pH of my hair. I do this once a week; alternating protein and moisture.
For deep conditioning I use the Hydratherma Naturals Protein, and Moisture deep conditioners. It is very very important that hair has a natural balance of protein and moisture because having too much or too little can damage your hair. How often you deep condition and with which products will depend on your hair's porosity level. I have been doing my research on porosity and I will test my own hair on a later video so you can know if the products I use are right for your hair. I usually leave the conditioner on my hair for about an hour so that it can penetrate the strands and then wash it off with luke warm water.
Right after deep conditioning I transition into styling my hair.
Before using these products I would spray the Folica Mist (pictured above) all over my freshly deep conditioned hair. Usually it takes me about half hour to style my hair and more if I am also twisting it. I like to use the spray bottle incase it starts to get dry on the parts I haven't applied product to.
I start with the protein leave-in conditioner, followed by the Shea moisture curling and styling milk and finish with my special blend of oils to seal the moisture. Note: oil is not a moisturizer but works best to seal moisture to hair.
When twisting the hair, I like to use the Aloe Curl Enhancing Twisting Cream or an all time favorite of a lot of naturals, Eco Styler Gel.
These are the products that work best for ME. I may change the Shea moisture soon because I feel I may need a more moisturizing product such as Giovanni's Direct Leave-in conditioner. I have loved the product in the past so I may need to bring it back.
Discalimer: I am not paid by any of these product's manufacturers I just like the way they work on my hair. I am also in the process of making my own hair care products so it is good to test what ingredients work best for hair. For more info visit: healthyhairjourney.com and sheamoisture.com
