I hate that so much. Like how dare my body be sick enough that it's seriously getting in the way but not obviously enough for me to be Dramatic about it.
I found a solution! My husband is out playing cards with friends and the kids are at their grandparents. Since I have a lack of effective pain medication, me and the long-ignored bottle of Bailey’s are getting acquainted again (not too acquainted, there’s only about two big drinks left. But I did notice some Kahlua and dark rum as well).
I’m feeling much better but I’m left wondering, is alcohol a pain killer or does it just give you that pleasant, I’m-too-happy-to-care feeling that morphine does? Lest anyone think I do morphine on the regular, I’ve had it exactly once for contractions during my last labour and it reduced horrific pains to tiny little nose boops. Not like they were gone, but like they were calling from so far away I could hardly hear them.
I distinctly remember thinking, ‘ah, I can see why some people would self-medicate with this.’
Anyway, I have Nano writing to do, or Nano writing to think about doing. Or to pretend to do.
@aubergion - can you offer insight into the pain-killing properties of alcohol?
