A character trait/dynamic that I'm endlessly compelled by is someone dealing with (or, like, failing to) being the child of people who were too busy being good people to have the time and attention to be good parents. This can be anywhere from 'was a public defender who gave a shit working 60 hour weeks with basically no vacations' to 'left their family behind to join the revolution/war effort and is now a universally beloved martyr-hero who saved/remade the world with their final breath' on the groundedness spectrum. The important thing is a viscerally felt but confused and ugly mess of longing, resentment, and guilt about feeling the resentment.

The thing that kills me about Anders being weird about your LI in act 3 is that it's just been so long now. You've been either dating or weirdly not-dating for like 4 years now. And still he's hating.
Like hating at exactly the same level he was in year 1. You gotta respect the grindset.
Anders would go up at your wedding dinner and start his speech with "wow. And to think just hours ago, I was reminding Hawke that it's not too late, and they don't have to do this". That's the kind of man he is. He does things like that.

I was really hoping to hold out until at least a little while longer, but I think it's time to admit that my family needs help again... we have almost no food left in the house. Last night I skipped supper altogether, and I was planning on doing the same tonight to keep conserving what we have but I'm so hungry it hurts right now. 😩

I admittedly didnt know about Neils hatred of Palstenians, and how it impacts the media he creates. How did you find out about the hatred and correlation?
Vice editor, Emanuel Maiberg explored how Druckmann's anti-Palestinian racism and Zionism are reflected in the Last of Us Part II in this incredibly thorough analysis he published. The article includes direct quotes from Druckmann on how his desire to make Palestinians "suffer" was a direct inspiration for the game. For me personally, after reading this a few times, coupling it with other criticisms I've read of the game's racism, and reading other interviews of Druckmann's - it wasn't hard to see how his zionist attitudes are present in both games and by extension the show. I'd argue it's not immediately obvious to those who don't know what to look for or don't really look into the creative background of games (which was me for many years). I didn't even know who wrote tlou until I played the second one years back and hated it so much I wanted NAMES, and that's when I found out Druckmann was Israeli. Anyways, free Palestine!!! Can't reccomend Maiberg's article enough for the low down 👇

tbh this is why i really do not like "playersexual" romances as opposed to those with clear associations. if you're going to have it so that the player can romance others regardless of their gender, just say all your characters are bisexual. it removes the players placing their own label on the romance and actually takes a stance that says yes, look, our cast of characters are queer and this is their queer identity.
They have. John Epler confirmed that the Veilguard companions are pansexual back in June.
While I understand that frustration, I think it needs to be acknowledged here that in this case the game is not the problem. The problem is bi/panphobia in the fandom and I think this proves that it always has been. We've known for months that these characters have a clearly defined sexuality. They're all queer. It's confirmed. And it's not stopping fans from actively trying to deny or erase those identities.
Personally I don't like discourse erasing the sexuality of canonically multi-gender-attracted characters even without a massive press release from the devs saying they're queer. But in this case it has been made very clear and it's not stopping the erasure.
#there are actually very very few 'playersexual' games out there #arguably most of them are gacha that let you decide protag gender #because that's kind of the point of those games #but almost all modern big games did this ON PURPOSE #the only AAA I can think of that is actually playersexual is like Skyrim #because there's no difference or feedback or anything romancing whoever #the game barely acknowledges its own romances beyond a necklace you can handle over to get married #but BG3? it's on purpose #Dragon Age? it's on purpose
