The Burlington County Courthouse in Mount Holly, #NewJersey. It was built in 1796. Its architect, Samuel Lewis, designed the building as a virtual identical twin of Congress Hall and Old City Hall, the buildings flanking Independence Hall in Philadelphia, PA. It was used full-time until 1959 when a new County office building was opened which included court facilities. Mount Holly (a.k.a. Dudley Plantation) was a historic Southern plantation in Foote, Mississippi. Built in 1855, it was visited by many prominent guests, including Confederate President Jefferson Davis. It was later acquired by ancestors of famed Civil War novelist Shelby Foote, who wrote a novel about it.
