Another day thinking about Mouse and not starting chapter 6

Barb leaving Concept

"You don't have to do this. " said a very defeated sounding Mouse.

"I do. I just. " Barb inhaled "I know how much my mortality has worried you. And I want to live! Not find a way to live forever in vain. It's just, too much Mouse. " she said.

"But I love you like I've never loved anyone, I don't want to live without you! " said Mouse, tears starting to flow. Barb stepped up and held their face. "I know. I'm sorry. " and after a brief look, she was gone. Mouse fell to their knees "BARB! "

Many, many years later.

"It's sad, no one has even come to see Ms Caulfield, doesn't she have.. Anyone? "

"Yeah she does. " said a young looking woman. No older than 21.

"Uh and you a-"

"Just let me see Barb. "

The two nurses looked at each other but nodded.

"Thank you. " they said.

"Oh my eyes must really have given out.. Why would you come see a mean old woman like me Mouse? "

Mouse looked at her "I heard about your marriage, i heard about you leaving him, I heard your kids took his side and when you couldn't take care of yourself they dumped you here. Actually i just found that part out. And i have never been more.. Angry. In my entire life. " they said. "I would of taken care of you everyday and then every fleeting day after you died. I never had- i never had the gall to come before now but. I won't let you die alone here. "

A quiet went over them.

"Mouse, i have never regretted a choice more in my entire life, but i just.. I wanted to protect you, we were young and i was scared. " said Barb.

Mouse walked over "Take my hand, I'll get you out of here. "

"I'd like that.. "

Hand in hand the two walked out.

"Oh god, Ms Caulfield is dead-"

"I guess i am, how do i look Mouse? "

"Like the beautiful girl who left me at 19." Chuckled Mouse.

"Still mad? "

"No. I'm happy to see you. "
