Summary: You got kidnapped by members of an aggressive incel group, and thought that this was how you were going to die. But a group of the Chicago PD are able to save you; now you just need to help them find the group that did this. Only one problem: You can’t talk.
Warnings: Graphic details of beatings and abuse, mentions of blood, violence against women, and swears.
A/N: So this was based off an idea by an anonymous sender asking for more mouse imagines. And since I am on a break from work (i’m okay, I just work at an elementary school and its summer vacation lol) I thought I would get some writing done :) I hope you all enjoy, and if anyone else has ideas for imagines you want me to write, send me a message!
I’m going to die.
You still remember the moment where you knew something was wrong when you were walking home from your job at the tech firm. It was late, not crazy late, but late enough where the street lights started to flicker on. The clicking of your footsteps soon stepped in sync with someone else’s, and before you could pull out your phone or your mace, a bag was thrown over your head and with a hard hit with something, you were out.
Now here you were, who knows how many days have passed, in a jail cell of a room, trying to anticipate when your kidnappers would come back for another round of smacking you around with the assorted weapons at their disposal. This group has been trying to extract some info about a set of code you had recently written to help one of the biggest banks in Chicago with their security; you assumed to rob it. You’ve also heard murmurings from outside your door about how they needed the money, for what though you didn’t know.
While curled up in a corner, trying to prepare yourself for the inevitable; that you were not going to make it out, you were shocked by a big BANG that shook the walls that surrounded you. You could here shouting, many voices echoing around as the scuttering of footsteps getting closer and closer to where you were being kept. You tried to push yourself further into the corner, and as the door swung open your hid your head in your lap with your arms over your head for protection.
“Hello?”
Slowly, you raised you head and squinted as a flash of light caught your eyes. In front of you was three people; two men and a woman. They had guns in their hands and bulletproof vests labeled with POLICE.
“Ma’am? Ma’am are you okay?” The taller man asked, his brown hair slicked back and his blue eyes looking at you with concern. With a shaky nod, the woman cop slowly comes over to you and kneels down.
“Are you Y/F/N Y/L/N?” Another nod, and the woman cop looks to her friends then back at you, offering her hand. “I’m Detective Lindsay, and we’re here to get you home.”
A flood of tears well up in your eyes and you reach out and grab her hand, her grip firm and comforting as she helps you up and out of your nightmare.
---
Hours have passed, and Detectives Lindsay and Halstead are standing outside a hospital room where you were sleeping off the meds the doctors had given you. Erin and Jay watch you through the window as the doctor walked over to them, clipboard and your chart at hand. “Detectives?”
“Yes.” Erin said, straightening up. “How is she?”
“Y/N is sedated now, but looks like she might be here for a couple days. With contusions on her legs, two broken ribs and a concussion, we would want to keep an eye on her before sending her home. We also had to administer a rape kit after seeing the bruising on her legs.”
“These guys really worked her over.” Jay murmurs, looking at you again before turning back to his partner.
“When she wakes up, please give us a call. We need to ask her some questions about the people that kidnapped her.” Erin hands the doctor her card and is about to turn and walk away when the doctor’s voice makes the cops’ stop.
“That might be an issue.” Erin and Jay turn back around and walk back to the doctor, looks of confusion present on their faces. “When she got to the hospital before being sedated, Y/N stopped answering any and all questions presented to her.”
“Like she’s refusing to talk? Why would she do that?” Jay asked.
The doctor shook their head and pulled their clipboard to their chest, “The head of psych, Dr. Daniel Charles, believes that Y/N has developed Psychogenic Mutism. Basically because of the trauma Y/N has endured, her mind has shut off that part of her brain that allows her to communicate. It’s not that she is choosing to not speak; it is that she feels physically unable to.” They explained, glancing over in your direction as she progressed.
“How long will that last?”
“It could be days, weeks, or it could go on for years. This type of trauma response is very unpredictable because we are not just dealing with the health of the patient. We are dealing with their mental health and it they feel safe and secure enough that their mutism can subside.”
Erin looked over at you again and sighed, hating that not only had the people responsible hurt you and taken away your feeling of safety, they also somehow took away your voice.
--
Over the next few days, it was explained to you that an investigation was open on your kidnapping and subsequent abuse. A Dr. Charles also visited frequently about what he called your “mutism”. He ended up giving you a whiteboard and marker so you could write, but whenever he brought up your attack, it was like your brain would shut down. The first time it happened, you woke up to Dr. Charles standing over you, telling you that you had a panic attack and passed out. After that, Dr. Charles and others were very careful what to bring up around you.
Eventually, you were released from the hospital and given your own police protection detail just incase those guys tried to take you again. The Detectives that found you, mainly Detective Lindsay, would visit and say how you were, and if you had thought of anything useful to help the investigation, but it was no use. One one day, you were asked to come to 21st District to look at some pictures of possible perps, and you were dreading it. It was the first time you had left the house since being released from the hospital and you had made your apartment your safety bubble; essentially everything in the bubble was good, and everything outside was dangerous. But some righteous part of you wanted to see the people responsible for your attack put to justice, so you got into the police cruiser of one of your protection detail, and made your way to the 21st.
Inside the district, you were met with a sturdy-looking older woman behind the desk of the main floor. She looked like the one in charge, her eyes never wavering even when you walked over to her. The officers with you, you think their names were Burgess and Roman, explained who you were, and you were buzzed up to the upper level which was explained to you that was where the Intelligence Unit was. After arriving to the office space, officers Burgess and Roman were called over their walkies, the sudden noise making you jump.
Officer Roman moved to answer the call as Burgess moved closer to you, “Sorry. It looks like we need to go. Lucky though you are in the safest place for you to be right now.” she said with a reassuring smile. “There is a civilian who works for the unit; he is their tech expert and used to work with Detective Halstead when they were Rangers. We’ll get him to come up and stay with you until the unit comes back.”
You nodded as Burgess and Roman walked down the stairs back down to the main flor of the district, leaving you alone for what feels like the first time in weeks. You took a seat at one of the desks, and fiddled with your hands as the silence around you started to press down on you.
I’m alone...The last time I was alone I was taken...I-I don’t want to be alone...I-I-I
Suddenly the room felt like it was moving, a swaying motion that didn’t bring you any comfort. Your lungs felt like they couldn’t get enough breath as you tried to get more air into them, and slowly your brain realized that you were hyperventilating. You were so concerned with trying to breathe that you didn’t hear someone enter the space you were in or how they moved closer to you quickly. It wasn’t until there was a hand falling on your shoulder that made you jump out of your seat and look up.
In front of you was a man with combed back brown hair and striking blue eyes, wearing a spotted black-and-white button-up shirt and jeans. The look he was giving you was full of concern, but not edging on pity which was mostly what you’ve seen since your attack. It took a second to realize that his mouth was moving and words were leaving his lips.
“-ear me? Hey, can you hear me? You need to breathe, okay? Match my breathing.” He said, his tone calming and rumbling like a faraway thunderstorm. Slowly, you were able to take deeper and deeper breaths, your heart slowing down until the panic attack subsided. Tears started to drift into your vision as a wave of exhaustion encompassed you all the way to your bones. “Its okay, its always a bit overwhelming after an attack like that.”
You nodded as you wiped away your tears to try and regain some composure, but the man didn’t seem bothered by the tears. He gave you a small smile and patted your lap before getting up and heading to the side kitchen. There was noise of ceramic clanking together and the sound of water, and a couple of minutes later he came back with a cup of tea. “Tea really helps. I have a cup after I have my panic attacks and its a nice calming drink to help ground me.” He explained, handing over the cup.
You sip from the cup, the smell of flowers of some kind and the taste of some kind of sweetener warmed your chest and let a small smile appear on your face. The man smiled at your calm exterior before pulling over a chair and sitting next to you, “Officer Burgess explained they were watching over you but had to leave, I’ve been helping the unit on your case so I know you can’t speak. That’s okay though. I’m Greg, by the way. Greg Gerwitz, but everyone calls me Mouse.”
You look over with a confused look on your face, which made Mouse laugh, “Its a very long story, trust me you don’t want to hear it.” You smiled again, a little bigger than before, and you two spent the next few minutes in conversation. Well, with Mouse talking and you listening, but it was the closest to a normal conversation you’ve had in weeks.
“-and then Jay, Detective Halstead, started running around like crazy, shucking off his shirt in the barracks looking for the spider.” Mouse said, laughing at the memory of Jay freaking out because of a spider. You were smiling and before you could even notice, your mouth was moving.
“What happened after that?”
Mouse turned to you in shock, and you stared back wide eyed as your hand came up to your mouth. “Oh my god.”
“Did...Did you just speak?” Mouse asked, his full attention now on your next move. You paused, thinking that you had both imagined that, but then went to try to speak again.
“H-Hi.”
Mouse’s shocked expression turned into a smile, “Hi.”
Just as the two of you were in the middle of a moment, the gate leading to the bullpen downstairs clanged shut with the follow up sound of multiple footsteps coming up the stairs. Mouse and you both turned to see Detective Lindsay, Detective Halstead and a few others walking into the room.
“Y/N, sorry for making you wait. I hope our tech expert Greg wasn’t that bad of company.” Jay said jokingly, giving Mouse a smirk. Before Mouse could open his mouth to reply, you stood up.
“N-No, he was great company.” You said as you watched Detective Lindsay and Halstead’s jaws drop at the sound of your voice. “He even helped me find my voice.”
“So you can talk now.” A voice said as an older man walked out to the front of the group. Clearly he was the Sargent Voight Mouse had mentioned to you earlier, the head of the Intelligence Unit. “Does that mean you’ll be able to help us with your case?”
You looked back to Mouse who gave you a reassuring smile, then turned back to the unit, “I’ll tell you everything.”
"Oh and you're not?" Mouse retorted. "I mean, you're on my ass all the time!"
"I am not," I argue.
"Guys, we're not gonna do this again. Stop it!" Jay ordered.
"Tell that to Y/n," Mouse grumbled.
"That's it. I'm tired of you guys fighting. We're putting an end to this right now. Lets go," Jay urged and gestured for us to follow him.
Jay led us down to the basement, and I thought we might have been going to the tech room, but instead Jay brought us over to the cage. And when Mouse and I got too close to the entrance, Jay shoved us inside, closing the door behind us.
"Hey!" I shout and pound against the chain link fence as Jay locked the door. "What the hell, Jay!"
"You two are gonna sort out whatever problem you have with each other," Jay declared. "I'll be back down in one hour. Until then, have fun."
I sighed and turned to Mouse. "Do you think he'll let us out if we figure this out right now?"
"I don't know," Mouse confessed. "Why? Do you have something to say?"
"I've never really hated you," I admit. "I guess I just turned to hating you because I didn't want to tell you how I really felt."
"How you really...." Mouse trailed off. "What are you trying to say?"
"I'm trying to say that I like you, Mouse. A lot," I tell him. "And I know chances are you don't feel the same way but-"
Mouse cut me off. "Just shut up and kiss me."
And I did. I pressed my mouth to his, moving my hands up to tangle themselves in his hair. Mouse grabbed my waist and pulled me towards him, closing the distance between our bodies. For a few seconds, the two of us were enveloped in one another, but that all changed when someone started clapping at the other end of the room. I pulled away from Mouse to see who it was, and saw that it was Jay, who was leaning against the doorframe to the entrance of the stairs.
"Finally!" Jay cheered. "We've all been waiting for you guys to get together for forever."
"Yeah yeah yeah," Mouse muttered. "Now can you let us out of here?"
Jay laughed. "Sure. We should probably get back to work anyways. Don't want Voight to catch us slacking off."

Clothes, clothes, and more clothes. Jesus, I've got to go through my wardrobe. You thought as you unpacked your bedroom.
"I dont remember having this many clothes when I packed up." You say aloud to yourself. You hear biting at a cage. "Honcho. Mommy is unpacking." You say to your pet ferret. You know its Honcho, for he always bites. Deeks was sleeping away. Just as you were about to put away some more clothes, the lights go out. This freaks you out a bit because of the things you read about how crimes have started this way. They cut the electricity and boom! Surprise you.
"GOD FUCKING DAMMIT REALLY?!" Your new neighbor heard this, him too experiencing the power outage. He walks over to your apartment and knocks on the door. You screech a little before going over and opening the door, only slightly.
"May I help you?"
"Hey, hi. Um I live across from you and I heard you scream. Are you okay?"
"I uh, yeah just a bit freaked out. My power is out and there's a serial killer dude person out there that cuts the power."
"Ah yes. I know. Im part of the police department. Names Greg. Or Mouse."
You nod, opening the door some more. "Y/N."
"I have some candles and flashlights if you need any. Do you need any help?"
You shrug, still a bit uneasy. "I could use some help."
"I'm your guy then." You step to the side, to let him in.
"Thank you. Itll help having someone here."
"Let me just go get the candles and flashlights quick." Once back, he and you lit them.
"You have a pumpkin spice latte scent?"
"What? Don't judge me." You just giggle and shrug.
"Smells good." You guys begin to talk and unpack your kitchen and living room.
"You have a vanilla chai candle."
"Don't judge me." You smirk and chuckle.
"Smells like a cookie."
"They taste amazing." You smile and continue to learn about Mouse. You liked him already, for he seemed so chill and mellow.
A blossoming friendship.
"What is that noise?" He asks, when he hears Honcho biting his cage.
"What? Oh, thats Honcho. My ferret. He wants to come out and play."
"Whoa you have a ferret?"
"I have 2 actually. Honcho and Deeks."
"That is awesome! Can I see them?"
"Sure! They love new people." You take his hand and lead him to your room with a flashlight. You go over to the cage and open it, Honcho waiting for you to pick him up. "Hi Honcho baby. Come say hi to mommys new friend." You hold him out to Mouse and watch as honcho licks his hand. Mouse was smiling like crazy as he pet the little furry noddle in front of him.
"He is so cute!"
"Deeks is a sleeper. He is an old man." You chuckle.
"Sounds like me." Mouse chuckles.
"They will nap with me too. Its so cute."
"Holy shit i bet." You place Honcho in Mouse's hands and watch as he snuggles up to Mouse. "Oh, my God. He has stolen my heart."
It has been 9 months since your boyfriend, Greg, had been deployed overseas. When he told you that he wanted to enlist, you didn’t know what to think. You were terrified that Greg was going to get hurt, but proud of him for being so brave. You couldn’t imagine not seeing him everyday at home or work and barely able to talk to Greg. But you supported him none the less, even if it broke your heart to see Mouse go.
Your partner, Antonio and the rest of the team knee how much you worried about him. You often confided in Antonio and Jay about how you were feeling. Before leaving, Mouse asked Jay to look out for you. Jay did the best that he could to reassure you Mouse would be okay, but your thoughts overwhelmed you.
A week ago, the three of you went out to Molly's after work. It happened to be one of those days when you couldn't turn your nervous thoughts off so you drank a little more than you should have. You tried to hide it but Antonio and Jay knew. "Talk to us Y/n" Antonio told you.
You didn't bother looking at him. You just stared off in front of you, looking at the shelves of alcohol.
Your words started to slur when you told him, "I haven't been sleeping. Most nights I wake up and feel around the bed for him cause I forget that he's gone." You grabbed your bottle and took a swing then said, "So I just hug his pillow. Cause it's the closest thing I have to him. Some times I spray his cologne on his pillow so it feels like he's there in bed with me"
When ever you were like this, it broke there hearts. You were obviously closest with Antonio and so whenever you were hurting he wanted to do whatever he could to help you. Jay was naturally upset too. But he couldn't help being proud of Mouse for finding a girl that loves him so deeply. Most girlfriends in your situation would of left him by now, yet even though you are in pain, you still stick it out. Which was why Jay and Antonio couldn't wait to show you your surprise.
------
A week had gone by since Molly's and you were now coming into the district for work. As you walked through the door, Sargent Platt looked up from her desk. Platt had always secretly liked you, so she made it her personal duty to check up on you. "How are we doing today Y/L/N?" She asked you.
You walked over and rested your arms on her desk. "A bit tired to be honest, but hopefully nothing coffee can't fix. How are you this morning Sarg?" You asked.
Platt had ignored your question "Have you heard anything from Mouse recently?"
Sadly you shook your head. "No I haven't. I used to get letters every few weeks or a random Skype call but I haven't heard from him in a while. "
Platts eyes softened, "Hey" she said, "keep your head up. I'm sure you'll hear from him soon"
You smiled at the desk sargent but before you could say thank you, Antonio came running down the steps and to the metal gate. "Y/N I need you up here."
You ran up the steps to meet him. "What's up Antonio? Every thing alright?" You ask him. You made you way up into the intelligence room with Antonio on your side.
"My CI just got arrested for theft. He's in the interrogation room, we need to talk to him and see what's up."
You kept walking to the interrogation room after putting your gun in your safe. "What did he steal?" You asked him
As Antonio opened the door you heard him say, "A truck load of bluray players"
And there he was standing in the middle of the room.
You through your eyes were playing tricks on you, but no. In the middle of the room stood a tall man in a milliary uniform with mousey brown hair and piercing blue eyes that you stared at all the time.
Greg's eyes were shining bright, but not as much as his smile. "Hi baby"
Tears started to run down your face when you heard his voice. You quickly pushed passed Antonio, knocking him into the wall, wrapped yourself around Greg. He picked you up and swung you slightly as your wrapped your legs around him. You buried our head in his neck while one hand went to grip his hair. The two of you started to cry and attempted to muffle your sobs but failed miserably. Your muscles started to shake from hang onto Greg so tightly.
You didn't notice that the rest of the team came out from behind the one way window and into the door way to watch you two.
You pulled away from his neck and placed a hand on his face gently, "It's really you? You're really home?"
Greg's blue eyes were now red and puffy, "You're stuck with me for a little while baby"
You started to laugh as you continued to cry. Oh how he missed the sound of your laugh.
Greg placed you back on the ground, still not letting go of each other, you pulled Greg's head down to kiss him. It's been 9 months since the last time you got to kiss him and as much as you wanted to keep kissing him, you heard your hoot and holler at the two of you. Mouse pulled away from you, "I wanted to tell you I was coming home but then Antonio and Jay thought it would be nice to surprise you."
You turned your head, still wrapped around Greg, "You two knew? For how long?" You asked them.
Antonio put his hand on the back of his neck, while Jay smirked and said, "Found out last week before we went to Molly's"
You shook your head at your friends and looked back at Mouse. "I've missed you so damn much Greg."
"I know. I thought about you everyday damn day Y/N" He grabbed your hand and lead you out the door to the rest of the team.
Everyone was in a cheery mood with Mouse back, even Hank didn't hide it. In fact, Voight told you, "Y/N why don't you take some time off? Don't worry about us right now just go home and be with each other."
Taken aback you asked him, "Are you sure Hank?"
"Absolutely. Get out here."
----
The two of you left a little while later, everyone wanted to say hi to Mouse. The team saw you guys off and went back up to there office.
"How long do you think he'll last?" Jay asked Antonio.
"No long at all. He barely was barely able to keep this secret." Antonio said.
The rest of team heard there little conversation and couldn't help but be curious.
A/N: Fun fact, I’ve been obsessed with the name Halston for years before I even knew any Halsteads existed. Also, protective Jay in this gif does things to me.
Having your first baby was hard. It was nothing like you imagined as a kid. You had married Mouse right before he decided to re-enlist. You hadn’t planned for a baby, but you had both gotten pretty drunk at his going away party and you would admit you weren’t always careful with protection. So, you weren’t that shocked to see the plus sign appear on the test. However, that did not calm your nerves in the least bit. You knew you were going to have to do this alone, and it was not going to be as you always hoped. Instead of doing a cute announcement for your husband you had to tell him over a computer with spotty internet not even able to take in his reaction as the picture lagged every two seconds. Mouse’s best friend, Jay or your best friend, Kim having to accompany you to doctor’s appointments instead of your own husband. Relying on Jay to help you put the nursery together, or more realistically supervisioring Jay as he put the nursery together. Having to decide on a name through multiple letters instead of on the couch with a baby name book. Enduring the few fights you’d be sure to have over a couple. If you had a late night craving? You had to fix it yourself. Kim volunteered to stay with you a week before your due date, not wanting you to go into labor alone. The happiest moment of your life was also accompanied by an overwhelming sense of sadness and loneliness.
If you thought the pregnancy was difficult being essentially a “single” parent was even harder. You swore your daughter cried more than she didn’t. You had plenty of people offering to help, but you were exhausted. Having to go back to work was a whole other obstacle. Struggling significantly with finding a good enough daycare you felt you could trust without Mouse’s input. You showed Halston his picture everyday. A little nervous of their first meeting. Knowing Greg would be freaking out a little despite his calm composure he would be sure to show on the outside. What if she somehow triggered him? What if her crying was too loud? Too much? These thoughts only heightened your anxiety.
And when the day finally arrived the swirl of emotions running through you was unbearable. You had gotten notice that Greg would be going on leave not too long before and you were just happy that he would be home before her first year of life had passed. Jay stood at your side, 7 month Halston resting in his arms, who was contently observing everyone hurriedly moving around her. You bounced on your heels, hands clasped together ready to attack your husband as soon as your eyes met his face. Jay’s hand landed on your shoulder squeezing it tightly.
“It’s going to be fine. Calm down.”
“I’m worried.” You admitted looking up at him and over to your daughter whose hands were tightly tangled in the front of Jay’s shirt undoubtedly stretching it out.
“I know, but I promise. It’s all going to be okay.” He pulled you into a side hug hand resting on your back as he let you work through your own thoughts for the next few minutes.
Mind going blank as soon as you witnessed Mouse walking towards you. Reaching him in a few strides he caught you in a hug, bag dropping to the floor beside him. You were silent for a few seconds just enjoying each other’s embrace before Mouse kissed your head, setting you back on your feet.
“I missed you so much.” He sighed, cradling your face in his hands as he leaned down to give you a hard kiss. Pulling away his gaze drifted over your shoulder swallowing hard before looking back down at you,
“Is that her?” He asked causing you to roll your eyes,
“No, Jay’s just holding some random baby. Yes, that’s her!” You exclaimed grinning as you pulled his hand towards the two. Mouse took slow steps appearing a few inches away while a look of awe took over his face.
“Can I hold her?” He asked, looking at Jay nerves getting the best of him, making his voice shake.
“Did you really just ask me if you can hold your own kid?” Jay teased with a smirk on his face.
“I really did not miss you two.” He sighed a small smile on his lips.
“Not what you just said.” You shrugged watching as Mouse carefully took Halston from Jay’s arms treating her like a china doll as he brought her closer to his body. He looked down at Halston while she looked up at him with big eyes, bottom lip quivering a few seconds later. When he realized this Mouse began to panic,
“Hey, baby girl it’s me, daddy.” He explained moving to rock her on his hip. She moved to reach for Jay forcing Jay to step behind you pretending like she wasn’t reaching for her dad’s best friend instead of her own father. The tears that had welled up in Halston’s eyes began to fall accompanied by a loud cry. Mouse’s expressions soon turned to sadness, “it’s okay sweetheart I got you. I promise I’m not going to hurt you. I love you so much.” Mouse choked out visible tears starting to appear at the corner of his eyes that he attempted to blink away as the crying got more insistent. “Okay okay, let's go back to Uncle Jay it’s alright.” He gave in holding her out to him.
“Greg I don’t-“ He started before Mouse interrupted him.
“Please.” He whispered as Jay nodded, taking his goddaughter back into his arms, which almost immediately calmed her as she stuck her face by his neck. At the realization you could see your husband’s sadness and guilt take over his whole body, practically breaking your heart into pieces.
“Greg-“ You reached for him but he took a step back.
“I’m going to go get my other bag, I’ll meet you in the car.” He faked a small smile stepping forward and pressing a kiss to your forehead before turning around and walking away from you, shoulders significantly more slumped.
————
“Thank you for coming along.” You thanked Jay as you took Halston out of her car seat. Mouse had barely said a word the whole way home. Which only concerned you more.
“Anytime. I’m glad you’re home safe brother.” Jay clapped Mouse on the shoulder.
“Yeah thanks man. I’ll call you later?” Mouse pulled Jay into a tight hug before getting out to grab his bags and follow behind you into your house. Jay yelling a goodbye to the three of you before pulling out. The air around you was tense. This is not how you wanted this to go.
“Well it’s time for baby girl’s nap or she’s going to get real cranky soon.” You informed him.
“Take after her mom?” He joked, but you could tell his heart wasn’t in it.
“I’m going to make her a bottle. Could you take her up?” You urged moving to hand her to him cautiously.
“Actually I think I should unpack some of this stuff if I don’t start now you know how I put it off.” He shrugged, moving to pick a bag up.
“Greg.” You scolded, making him stop his action and look up at you. “Take her.” You ordered.
“I-I don’t think that’s a good idea.” He sighed standing up straight again.
“What do you mean it’s not a good idea? She's your daughter in case you forgot.” You huffed.
“I didn’t but it sure seems like she has.” He replied.
“Baby, I get that this has to be hard for you, but you can’t just avoid it. I’ve done this for 7 months alone, and I would really appreciate the help.” You explained hoisting Halston back up on your hip where her head fell on your shoulder eyes getting heavier.
“She doesn’t like me.” He chewed his bottom lip nervously.
“She doesn’t know you, honey. She hated Jay at first too, but I mean to be fair can you blame her? Don’t we all?” You joked earning a small chuckle from him. Shaking his head he held his arms out to take her from you. After being placed securely in his arms Halston started to whimper. Taking a deep breath Mouse began to soothe her, “I’ll meet you up there.” You smiled before heading to the kitchen to get her drink. You knew he could calm her; he just had to be given the chance. You could hear Mouse’s footsteps against the staircase as you busied yourself with making a bottle taking a few extra minutes thank you normally would. You hadn’t heard any loud wails from Halston or your husband so you atleast took that as a good sign. Walking up the staircase in sight of the nursery you stood outside to see Mouse rocking in the chair, Halston rested against his chest as she fumbled with the dog tags hanging from his neck. Standing back out of view you leaned against the wall to hear your husband’s voice,
“I’m sorry I haven’t been here. That I wasn’t here to see you come into the world, but I hope you know how much I love you. More than I could ever put into words. I can only hope I’ll be here to watch you grow up. To see you become a smart, brave, beautiful little girl that is sure to take after her mom. She’s incredible isn’t she? Together we are going to give you everything we have, Halston. I promise.” He kissed her head lightly watching her eyes grow heavier fingers tightly wrapped around the tags, “also while I’m at it I’d just like to point out I’m cooler than your Uncle Jay. You may not know it right now, but I definitely am.” He teased making you laugh as you entered the room.
“He is pretty cool.” You smiled walking towards them.
“She stopped crying.” He whispered to you a smile on his face.
“You know she looks so much like you.” You said hand resting on the back of his neck, “I think that’s what helped me most through the last 7 months. Being able to look at her and see you.”
“I don’t know. She has your eyes and that cute little nose of hers is all you.” He smirked.
“Is it finally hitting you that you’re a dad?” You asked looking down at your daughter who was taking deep breaths now, eyes closed.
“Yeah, and it’s kinda the best feeling in the world.” He answered.
It might take Halston a little to warm up to him, but you had no doubt when she did she wouldn’t want to leave his side.
Summary: You and Mouse are best friends, but have yet to confess your feelings to one another
Warnings: Slight smut and cussing
A/N: Trying to decide whether I should make a separate tumblr for imagines let me know what you think!
“Woah champ that’s like your fourth drink in a hour, you good?” Mouse came up behind my seat at the bar startling me. I look at him nodding my head before looking back down at the counter. “Yeah cause that’s definitely convincing.” Mouse smirked sliding into the seat beside me. I sighed before turning to him.
“Don’t you have anyone else to bother?” I huffed.
“No, sorry part of the best friend job description.” He replied before swiping my beer and taking a drink. “So really what’s up?” He looked me straight in my eyes, slight concern on his face.
“He cheated on me.” I answered turning so that I wasn’t facing him anymore, “More than once.”
“I told you that guy was a waste of space, [Y/N].” Mouse growled anger clear in his voice.
“Yeah okay because you have the greatest track record too Mouse.” I replied crossing my arms. “You know what? I’m going home. I’m not in the mood for this.” I laid money on the bar, and stood up grabbing my jacket walking straight out of Molly’s into the coldness before Mouse could protest.
~Mouse’s POV~
I ran a hand down my face after watching [Y/N] strut out of Molly’s grabbing my beer before returning to my original booth with Jay, Adam, and Kim. “Yikes what was that about.” Adam asked amusement clear in his voice. Kim throwing him a look.
“Prick cheated on her. You know I warned her about him. He was obviously a player.” I snapped back.
“Dude seriously. Why don’t you just tell her? You two are wasting more time and energy playing this trial and error game then she would just putting up with your ass.” Jay laughed before taking a drink.
“What are you talking about?” I looked at the three of them watching them all dramatically roll their eyes.
“Oh please, you two are the most obvious people I’ve ever met. Like even more obvious than Adam and I were. Apparently just not to each other.” Kim laughed. Laying her head on Adam’s shoulder. I tried to hide my smirk back. Before breaking and looking down smiling.
“Okay, I’ll plead guilty. However, that doesn’t mean she likes me for one. Secondly, I’m not about to be some rebound guy.” I tried to reason.
“Well if I had to guess I’d say that guy was just a distraction. You’re my best friend buddy and I just want you to be happy, and it’s clear she the one that’s going to make that happen for you. Stop beating around the bush and just go tell her.” Jay smiled patting me on the back.
“Yeah, I’m going to need a few more drinks before I do that.” I sighed downing the rest of my beer.
~[Y/N]’s POV~
I can’t say that I was really shocked to find Logan cheating on me, and I’d be lying if I said I really cared that much. To be honest he was kind of just a distraction trying to convince my mind that Mouse was nothing more than my best friend, and that’s all he was ever going to be. I walked into my apartment shivering from the cold outside. I hung my jacket up before kicking my shoes off and throwing my purse on the counter. Wobbling a little I made my way to the couch falling down into it. I wrapped myself in a blanket turning on the TV and scrolling through my phone. Eventually I drifted off to sleep. Later I was awoken by a knock and heard my door opening. I propped myself up looking at the clock and realizing I had only been asleep about 20 minutes before turning and seeing Mouse walking through the door heading towards me. I watched him the whole way not saying anything until he sat down on the couch beside me. “Hi.” I said quietly.
“Hi.” He replied looking at me.
“I’m sorry for getting upset earlier.” I looked down playing with my hands.
“I understand. I just want you to be happy, and I hate when these guys take adva-“ I couldn’t take it anymore. I was drunk, and his eyes peering into mine along with his quiet and concerned voice was making my heart race. I reached over snaking my hand around his neck pulling him into my lips. His scent overwhelming me, and damn did he smell good. He quickly melted into my grip pulling me onto his lap in one motion so I was straddling him. My hands explored his chest under his shirt pulling it off before they ended up in his hair. He kept his hands on my hips pulling me closer before sneaking his tongue into my mouth causing me to moan quietly. I began to kiss down his neck digging my nails into his arms before grinding down onto him causing him to throw his head back letting out a throaty moan that he clearly had been trying to keep in. “[Y/N], fuck.” My hands continued to explore his body. I started to grab onto his belt before he grabbed onto my hands. “[Y/N], wait.” His voice was dark, lust clear in his eyes, and his jaw was clenched tightly cleary not wanting to stop. “We’re both drunk, you more so than me. I don’t want you to do anything you’re going to regret. Maybe we should just wait until the morning and see how we feel.” He sighed. I nodded my head before sliding off of him.
“Can you stay here?” I mumbled not wanting him to be too much of a gentleman to leave fully. He smiled agreeing before kissing my head letting me head off to bed. I fell asleep knowing full well nothing was going to be different in the morning. I woke up the next morning groaning as the sun hit my eyes not helping my raging headache one bit. I quickly pulled the covers over my head. I heard a chuckling coming from the doorway. I slowly lowered the covers to find Mouse leaning against the doorway smirk on his mouth, amusement in his eyes.
“Well Goodmorning.” He walked over to me handing me a few pills and a glass of water.
“Thanks.” I smiled up at him before popping the pills into my mouth. All of a sudden memories of last night flooded my brain, making me want to jump Mouse’s bones again thinking of him moaning out my name. But I stayed calm ignoring the heat from the blush that was now certainty on my face. How does one start this conversation? An awkward silence filled the room, before he cleared his throat.
“Well I guess I’m going to get going, if you don’t need anything else.” He rubbed the back of his neck before standing up. I grabbed onto his wrist pulling him back down.
“Mouse, I’m sick of playing this run around game. I love you, and I want to be with you. If you don’t want to be with me I understand, but no part of me regrets last night.” I said nervously. A big smile spread across his face before he grabbed my face kissing me.
“I love you too, [Y/N]. So much.” He said before wrapping me up in his arms. Needless to say we didn’t move from the bed much that day.
