Part of Your World – Disney Casts the New Princess Ariel

Just a few days after releasing new Lion King photos, Disney blew everyone out of the water with their recent casting announcement for their

Ariel has always been my favourite Disney princess and though I haven't been a fan of the live action remakes, the little girl inside me is overjoyed to see someone who looks like me playing such a significant role. Ariel's look has been the status quo for nearly every Disney princess who came after her - all the way to Anna, Elsa, and Moana.

Halle Bailey (not Halle Berry) certainly has the chops to belt out Part of Your World, just check out the YouTube videos online. Beyoncé didn't sign the sister duo for nothing!

Of course there's always going to backlash. Already you can hear/see the crocodile tears about why wasn't she played by a real redhead? The Little Mermaid is a Danish story, she can't be black! The blog post touches on this a little bit and why race is irrelevant in this particular Disney tale. As Sebastian would say - the human world, its a mess.
