The morning was really about community power, but LOOK AT THAT VIEW! Hopefully Landcare will do another visit focusing more on the wildlife sanctuary sometime. We had a walk in the Nook this afternoon - the sun was shining, but it wasn't quite warm enough for even the Bunny Ears sun orchids to fully open. Hopefully we can go back on a warmer day and find that big patch again! There were quite a few unopened Salmon sun orchids, too. Last night, we'd studied the skies and decided sunset would be unexciting - but we were wrong, and ended up dashing uphill to catch the show. New postcards arrived from @redbubble today - in time for Sunday's Great Western Makers Market. Apart from Cactiflora, from a photo taken @cactuscountry in early December, the images are local to Moyston. I've been making more lavender sachets, too, these with a vintage barkcloth. I didn't realise it had metallic gold in the print until it was under the bright light of my sewing machine - gorgeous! Grampians National Park Small-Group Eco Tour from Melbourne

Departing Melbourne at around 8am, you'll pass through Western Plains of Victoria on the way to historic Ballarat. Ballarat boomed in the 1850’s with the widespread discovery of gold in the district. Learn a little about the history and enjoy morning tea at the site of the infamous Eureka Rebellion. Continue the drive through the picturesque western volcanic plains, passing through the town of Moyston, the birthplace of Australian Rules Football. Arrive at the foot of the Grampians Range known as Gariwerd in the local Jardwadjali language and immerse yourself in the Australian bush with a gentle stroll to Silverband Falls. Continue to the township of Halls Gap for lunch. Keep an eye open for the local kangaroos and the abundant birdlife that can be seen in the main street. After lunch, head to the Wonderland Turntable for a short hike to the Grand Canyon. Your last stop is MacKenzie Falls. No trip to the Grampians would be complete without a visit to these majestic falls.

Everything is off at the Moyston Hall for the foreseeable future, unsurprisingly. I've got one more poster to frame (Alaska String Band) and some photos and flyers from the Moyston Art Show, which ran for 15 or 16 years, I think. The Hall has changes a lot since the first one, I know that! It's something I can keep working on while the doors are shut, at least. We had a lovely walk along a country road on Saturday morning, cleaning up Australia with Moyston Landcare. A downy feather caught in a shrub is pure magic - glad the phone camera was in my pocket! We'd never come across the dam, which was well attended by small birds. Bryan had just remarked that there was surprisingly little litter when we spotted a bag full emptied in the middle of hedge wattles (ultra prickly, for those not familiar with it). He crawled in and we cleaned it all up. It was evidently cleared out from someone's car and was several metres from the road. When kids arrived and exclaimed "It looks like a party!" I knew our decorations were up to scratch! Balloons bring great excitement, but they can be a problem environmentally, so we're trying to keep them inside. It's not just the little ones who love them, either!
