Mr. Boddy Black Jr. - The Victim
Born to two rich and influential parents, Boden "Boddy" Black Jr. was never one to work particularly hard for anything. He separated himself from the rest of his family almost immediately and found himself in all sorts of daring exploits and adventures, not caring for what he could get out of them nearly as much as simply the thrill of doing whatever he wanted. What's more, throughout his riveting escapades, he felt completely free to hurt whomever he pleased. After all, he was the younger son of multimillionaire Sir Boden Black-- what was anybody going to do, stop him? He didn't think so.
He had already received something of a windfall from his father's death (which was "awfully premature and disastrously disappointing," as he haphazardly told the swarm of reporters) but when his mother, Margaret Tudor died, leaving the Tudor Mansion to him, he quickly took it in stride. Ever the optimist, he threw together a not-particularly-expensive soiree to celebrate his new inheritance, inviting in all sorts of old friends (and foes) from across the country. Little did he know that this party would be his last...
Private Eye Kasandra Scarlett - The Investigator
An aspiring detective with a checkered past, Miss Scarlett has always done her best to use her status to her advantage. Having previously been stuck in sex work, she took her opportunities when she saw them and made her way into the Swatchburg Police Department. Truth be told, neither profession was her first choice (she had always dreamed of becoming a movie star) but she's good with detective work, and it pays well. Plus, she's not above using her looks to get anyone to confess to her.
Before the murder of Mr. Boddy, he and Scarlett had been longtime friends, though there were times when Boddy attempted to be something more, only for Kasandra to quickly and efficiently shut him down. Unfortunately, this friendship was put to the test when one Lord Austin Grey was found dead in his own home, and all signs pointed to foul play from Mr. Boddy. Kasandra was on the case, and her relationship with Boddy was irrevocably severed. Luckily for him, he had the best lawyer in Swatchburg, and despite being sure that he was at fault, there wasn't much Scarlett could do against the work of Attorney Peacock. Now that Kasandra has come across Boddy's dead body moved to the Tudor Mansion's basement, one can't help but wonder if she did the deed herself out of a desire for justice...
Colonel Algernon Mustard - The Traditionalist
Long past his retirement as an army officer, Colonel Mustard has always been one to acknowledge the importance of hard work and integrity. He began his work with the military out of a deep devotion to his country-- or at least, that's what he tells everyone. He met Mr. Boddy about a decade and a half before the inheritance of Tudor Mansion, when Boddy's mother, Margaret brought her then-teenage son with her on a visit to provide aid and relief. Mustard is confident that he would remain on the battlefield to this day, had a clumsy accident from Boddy not injured him and forced him to retire.
Algernon always respected Margaret Tudor, but he never had a particularly good view of either of her sons. So, when Boddy invited him to his final soiree, part of the retired Colonel was furious. Even ignoring the injury, Mustard resented Boddy's relaxed attitude to life and his irritating unwillingness to put in any effort. While Mustard doubted that the younger man seriously wanted to make amends, he attended the party regardless, partially to keep up appearances and partially to find some way to pay his respects to Margaret. But with this perfect opportunity to be alone with Mr. Boddy, there's always the chance that Colonel Mustard let his rage take over, forcing Boddy's life to its end...
Senator Blanche White - The Widow
Since the moment she escaped his employment two years ago, Mrs. White has made it clear that she has no semblance of respect for Mr. Boddy. She has long been suspected of murdering her two ex-husbands, and while she was never involved in either's death, she's always done her best to deflect the rumors. So, when Mr. Boddy contacted her with "irrefutable evidence" of his construction that placed her in the exact time and place of both crimes, she knew she had to do whatever it took to stop him from getting that evidence out. She became his housekeeper and secretary for nearly a decade, only managing to escape when he replaced her with someone he could more easily abuse, and even then, he still called White in for excruciating tasks under threat of leaking the fake evidence.
Blanche White has managed to come out strong from the abuse, having largely recovered from addictions that once plagued her and recently earning a position in the Senate. Over the two years, the calls from Boddy have become less frequent and less intense, falling closer and closer to the line of odd jobs-- though if this is supposed to be a way to apologize, Senator White never intends to accept. With the invitation to his party, she's been dragged into Boddy's problems once more-- and she might not mind stooping to the accusations just this once, if it means she can ensure this is the last time...
Reverend John Green - The Agent
As well-off and respected as he is, John Jacob Green can't help but feel like his life is missing something. Years ago, he worked as a reverend at a Catholic church (he keeps the title to this day) but an unfortunate incident forced him to leave the position behind. Mr. Boddy attended a service drunk that evening, and the next morning, he and Green woke up in the same bed. While Green urged Boddy to stay quiet about what happened between them, Boddy did not care to listen, and within the week most regular attendees were aware that Reverend Green was a homosexual.
John Green has since moved far away from Swatchburg, starting over in a small home in Hue County to much success. He's become a respected businessman with a high-paying position in the FBI, but he lives in an ever-present fear of what Boddy might do next. Three years after the move, Green found himself invited to a party run by Boddy himself, who seemed to have forgotten what he did, attempting to reach back out. Green was wary, returning to Swatchburg to attend the party out of a hazy sense of obligation, but at least things seemed to be going well for him once he started talking with the other guests. Maybe that gave him just the confidence boost he needed to face Boddy and put a stop to his fears once and for all...
Attorney Patricia Peacock - The Defense
One of if not the best lawyer in Swatchburg, Ms. Peacock has always been driven by a desire to help decent people however she can. She does exceptional work defending her clients and can't help seeing the best in people, and these things go double for close friends like Mr. Boddy. She's been there to bail him out of all sorts of legal troubles (no matter how difficult the task at hand may be) from injury and abuse to theft and murder, because she believes with all her soul that anyone she defends must be worth defending. She has to believe that that's true, because what would it mean for her if it wasn't?
Attorney Peacock has gotten particularly suspicious of Boddy's nature in their most recent case: the murder of Lord Grey. She does her best to shut down the accusations against Mr. Boddy (and succeeds strongly, to her credit) but she has to admit that the evidence against him is incredibly damning. Patricia figures that Boddy invited her to his party as a way to keep the court case off their minds for a bit, but she knows she can't ignore the signs anymore. If she truly has come to recognize Boddy for the despicable man he really is, then perhaps the emotions got to her in the heat of the moment and she reunited him with the man he killed...
Professor Peter Plum - The Academic
Suave and well-read, Professor Plum has always advocated to play it safe. He was always a natural with academics, finishing school two years early and only interested in giving his all to college education. Though Plum earned his place at the prestigious Hue University, he hit a snag towards the end of his fifth year-- suddenly, his bachelor's degree was out of reach, and he became desperate. He reached out to a young Mr. Boddy (who was clearly too young to be there, and only in the same college due to money and nepotism) and the two of them cooperated to remove Plum from the situation, forge a degree and perfectly cover their tracks.
Was forgery the best way out of Plum's predicament? Definitely not-- he's well enough aware that there were much less criminal ways to handle things. But what's done is done, and at least he's managed to secure a position as a professor at Swatchburg Community College. He's started a partnership with Mr. Boddy to fund his current side projects as an amateur inventor, but truth be told, he's a little wary of working with him. When the two of them collaborated on Plum's forged degree, Boddy drunkenly confessed to a number of crimes committed by himself and his father. Having heard firsthand just how vile and treacherous Boddy can be, Peter wouldn't be too surprised to see him spread the news of the forgery. Of course, Professor Plum eagerly accepted the invitation to Boddy's soiree-- but perhaps he figured it was a good opportunity to silence the only man who could blab about his less than clean past...
BONUS CHARACTERS!
Amy Orchid, PhD - The Prodigy
A young botanist with an eye for crime, Dr. Orchid can't resist intrigue and adventure. When her birth mother resolved that she couldn't support a child and put her up for adoption, Amy found herself in the custody of Mr. Boddy. Although she didn't feel particularly interested in a father figure, Boddy insisted on being that anyway, despite his terrible parenting and her deeply uncomfortable reaction to the very concept. She became much more attached to his housekeeper, Blanche White who became a mentor to her and persuaded her to leave Boddy behind as quickly as possible. Orchid was more than willing to take her advice, given how abusive Boddy turned out to be to them both, and she had a tender parting with White when she went off to Swatchburg Community College a year early and never looked back.
Amy Orchid found a kindred spirit in Professor Plum, and with his help she both acquired her degree and learned about the many crimes Boddy had committed. Orchid looked into the man even more after that, but only ever from a safe distance -- she didn't want to have anything to do with him again. She attended his most recent party not out of love or even respect, but out of a grim desire to find some way to get back at this man who had so severely wronged her and so many others. And what better way to get revenge than to murder him in his own mansion? All she needed to do was get close...
Doctor Montague Black - The Rival
The oldest of two brothers, Dr. Black has always felt like his parents were playing favorites. When they divorced, Margaret, the mother, fought hard to keep Boddy Jr. in America with her, meaning Montague and Sir Boden Black were stuck in the UK together. The brothers ran their businesses against each other from opposite sides of the Atlantic Ocean, and while Montague was always first to come up with the next move, Boddy was right behind him with something bigger, flashier, and more American. Montague inherited very little from his father, but despite the overall negative impact the rest of his family had had on his life, he still moved to America to assist his mother when he heard about her declining health.
Mind clouded by dementia, Margaret Tudor failed to recognize her son at first, but in a rare moment of lucidity, she took her chance to apologize to him for the circumstances the family had put him in. Sadly, she also confessed that Boddy would be getting the majority of her inheritance as per her will, and that in all likelihood, she would not be able to revise it fast enough. She turned out to be correct, and as Dr. Black received the invitation to Boddy's celebration of acquiring the mansion, he became furious. With his parents gone, Montague knew he had to attend the party to confront the last remaining embodiment of just how awful his family was. And perhaps a murder in the mansion would be the perfect way to end it all...

Sir Boden Black - The deceased father of Dr. Black and Mr. Boddy, and namesake of the latter. Abusive and ignorant.
Lord Austin Grey - Mr. Boddy's newest murder victim.
Inspector/Sargeant Grey - The brother of Lord Grey. Attended the party for intel.
Lady Lavender - The wife of Lord Grey and birth mother of Dr. Orchid. Attended the party for intel.
Monsieur Brunette - A deceased business rival of Mr. Boddy's. Conniving Frenchman archetype.
Miss Georgia Peach - The stepdaughter of M. Brunette, who attended the party either to make amends with Boddy or kill him for her stepfather's sake.
Madame Jacquelyn Rose - A secretary that Boddy hired to replace White, who was in the mansion at the time of the murder. Evidence suggests that he sexually abused her.
Jane Meadowbrook - A lawyer that worked with both Mr. Boddy and Dr. Black, and also attended the party.
Justice Azure - A direct relative of Prince Philippe Azure, presiding over the case of Lord Grey's murder. Invited to the party, may or may not have attended.
