This is more to get something out of my system than a full blown thing.
I made the mistake of looking at vids on 'Nice Guys.'
I really appreciate Mr. Gar and Carol as a slight subversion on the stupid, classic Nice Guy trope or best friend that's been in love with this girl forever stories.
Years after the Sandwich incident, Mr. Gar still has feelings but he never feels entitled to Carol's affections or makes unwanted moves. She's the one that guides the conversation and makes the bigger moves, honestly! The biggest reason it takes awhile for anything to happen is Carol trying to give Mr. Gar space and let him approach her when he feels ready or comfortable. There's so much emphasis on open communication, reciprocated feelings, how both characters involved want something and get something out of the relationship.
There's no they got together as a prize for the dude's ego bullshit. There's no "he wore her down"! It's made very clear that Carol likes him and is open to a romantic relationship in the series present day. While there is the best friends falling in love element, its played as an organic, rewarding development. Nothing feels forced or only beneficial for one character involved.
Even considering the POINT flashbacks, El Bow's desperate moves to confess his feelings are understandable and more bad timing or miscommunication than painful. Its not melodrama. Its not a lovesick nerd that refuses to take no for an answer. Its a lovesick, awkward dork that picked a terrible time to shoot his shot and plays out with the appropriate gravity or consequences.
I've spent way too much time wanting to rip my hair out over how softballed couples like Donnie and April in 2012 TMNT was. She needed to set a stronger boundary and Donnie needed to accept no as an answer. UGH....No. Please, if there are any more dynamics of hopeless lovesick nerd plus attractive girl relationships in cartoons, I'll gladly take more writing taking notes from Carol and Mr. Gar. The nerd fumbling and feeling entitled or whatever can play out, just, ugh...It needs to be addressed. It needs to be thoroughly unpacked and shut down and the couple happens because Nerd and attractive girl genuinely develop reciprocal feelings and learn how to properly talk to each other and set boundaries and stuff.
I'll come back to this idea with better articulated thoughts and points at a later time. Too frustrated right now and this is more rant-y than a meaningful essay.
Well well well guess who is back? Figured that this new rule won't stop me from getting my content out there and ESPECIALLY near Valentines day. I am a shipp...
I am tired ladies and gents this has been quite the project. Happy early Valentines day haha!
So after the latest OK KO episode some random Voxman and family ideas
Under break due to not wanting to spoiler people
I made another AMV!
Lol, I haven’t made one in a while, so this is just a short little thing to remind myself that I still can.
We in the OK K.O fandom like to ship sometimes, but we all know who the real OTP is ^^
