Because it’s over - 12/5/25
“Don’t cry because it’s over, smile because it happened”
No.
I will cry.
I will not shut the faucet.
I will not stop blubbering like a whale.
I will not be a woman.
Because I will no longer get to be in my flow state.
I will no longer get to be her on stage.
I will no longer get to be her nana.
I will no longer get to be his wife.
I will no longer get to be his friend.
I will no longer get to nearly fall asleep on our stage manger in the wings.
I will no longer get to go into the black box and put on the shawl that makes me a woman I am not.
I will no longer get to rip off mic tape and feel the sting of a good show.
I will no longer get to experience the best feeling.
I will cry when it’s over,
Because it’s supposed to hurt
That’s how you know it meant something
I will smile too, because they were the best three months of my life
But I have a right to cry.
Because it’s all over.

This one’s about the play that I’m in, but I won’t get to say that for much longer, because the final show’s tomorrow. I really have no idea how I’ll be able to say goodbye. It’s the first production I’ve been in, and also my final of middle school. ALSO: some of this is lines from the play “shut the” through “a woman” and “it’s supposed to hurt that’s how you know it meant something”
