I just remembered that one time a "battle ax bi" on instagram tried to tell me that pan people not only didn't exist (and their existence was biphobic) but that we stole their culture of finger guns and puns . . . like in a way that was like "no one can do this but the bis."

Anytime I ever see someone unironically claim that in present day queer communities, that pan people, as a whole, are STILL pushing the "hearts not parts" and "gender blind" ideas and slogans, I know that these people have not looked at the current landscape of the community whatsoever

The pan community used to describe ourselves as such, but then we were educated and told "hey, that's actually not really a good way to describe yourselves. Could you think of something else?" And I'm sure some people said No - but largely? We DID. We listened, we learned, we probably even apologized and promised to do better. And we have!!

Any pan person nowadays who still uses "gender blind" or "hearts not parts" is either uninformed, ignorant, or just stubborn with change.

Y'all need to realize that the pan community, as a whole, has actively tried to better itself for years now. We have actively changed things about our community and identity so that we don't step on anyone's toes.

And at some point, I feel like it becomes real obvious what panphobes actually want. Because they don't want us to fix what is or what they find to be wrong with the pan label. Even if what other people call us out on is valid (again, like how "hearts not parts" was harmful)! Ultimately, these people just don't want the pan label to exist, period.

It's fucking disgusting, it's cruel, and it needs to be addressed more often. Because, here's the thing; panphobia hurts more than just pan people. Panphobia also hurts bi people, and really any other mspec label. Because there are overlaps in our identities, there is also overlaps in the ways we face hatred, exclusionism, and bigotry.

Which is why pan people need to be actively listened to and actually heard when we talk about dogwhistles, why we need other people to back us up, and why we need solidarity now than later.

Pan people are not the enemy to bi people nor any other mspec label. We are friends, siblings, neighbors, and more. We are all victims to the same system, but none of us are the reason for why it exists.

Bi is attraction to more than one gender. Pan is attraction to all genders, regardless of gender.

And while we’re at it, Poly is attraction to many genders, and Omni is attraction to all genders but with preferences.

Yes these 4 all broadly overlap. Who gives a fucking shit. There’s nothing wrong with having identities that overlap. It hurts nobody. You think people “arent going to respect us/take us seriously” because of overlapping identities?? News flash, they dont respect us anyway. If their “respect” is conditional based on some overlap, they never actually respected us.

I think that we should limit the use of the word "biphobia" to instances of bisexual-specific discrimination. it's too often that other mspec identities are erased and shoved under the bi umbrella when that word doesn't fit them.

phrases like "just pick one" or "you're probably just gay in denial" aren't things said exclusively to bi people. talking about "mspecphobia" or "mspec exclusion" instead of the often exclusionist itself "biphobia" could make a lot more people feel a lot more included in the conversation.

If I never see another "men are trash" post it will be too soon. You are not supporting women by saying that men are inherently evil and cruel because of their gender; all you are doing is saying the same goddamn shit that makes trans men feel like they should closet themselves, mspec women feel like they need to only focus on their attraction to women or they're some kind of dirty traitor, and men of color feel like even groups that should understand how they get demonized are unsafe for them too. Misandry isn't feminism, you know. And by god I never thought I'd be on the "misandry is an issue" train, but the way some of y'all speak make it clear you don't actually care about misogyny or sexism, but rather a group you can point to for all your problems without recognizing who you're throwing under the bus or who within your own group parrot the same problems you claim to be against.
