i kind of like how they didn’t win hot wave. of course, i would have loved it if they did, but it just felt... right with how this series is?
the thing is, chinzilla’s story was never really about winning hot wave to me, even if that was their dream. i always felt it was about finding a place for these guys to play music together happily. even from the start, with the flashback to when they first joined the music club, it gave a hint to the fact that they weren’t the most talented (not being able to join orchestra), something that is repeated a bunch in the first half of the series.
but what they lacked in skills they made up for in passion. and that passion was really what got them to where they were in the competition, because they genuinely had fun on stage playing music together.
in general, i just love how realistic and mature my school president is. it wasn’t all sunshine and happiness throughout, but also didn’t have overly exaggerated conflict or drama. thinking back, it really just portrayed a high schoolers life so well. even in this episode, that one part where their teacher asked anyone who got into a university yet to write their name down, and only two people got up from chinzilla... that got me so bad. just... everything about this drama was so well thought out and i’m so glad i gave it a try and get to see this magic happen.
