30 Day Pokemon Challenge - Day 6 - Favorite Game?
This is REALLY HARD. My top 4 (not including spin-offs like Pokepark, Pokemon Snap, Pokemon Rumble, etc.), would have to be:
4. Pokemon Ruby
I did say generation III was my favorite, didn't I? I just really love the Pokemon in this generation the most. Plus this was the first Pokemon game I ever played, besides goofing off on my brother's Red, Blue, Silver, and Gold, but that didn't really count because I was too young to know what I was doing.
3. Pokemon FireRed
This was my first experience with the original 151 Pokemon and I enjoyed it thoroughly. This is where I got one of my favorite Pokemon ever that I STILL have and have traded from game to game to game over the years, and is now resting in my Pokemon Battle Revolution game. I'm so happy I brought it over to that game before my Pearl crashed and got lost at the airport. So now my beloved Charlina (yes, it's a female Charizard that I nicknamed Charlina when I was like 8) will forever stay within my Pokemon Battle Revolution storage.
2. Pokemon HeartGold
It's impossible not to love this game, it's a remake of an old game just like FireRed, and everyone seems to love remakes just like me. This game is AWESOME though because 1. You can get Ho-oh AND Lugia 2. THERE'S MORE THAN 1 REGION. I'M SORRY BUT THAT'S JUST SEXY.
1. Pokemon XD: Gale of Darkness
I have so many justifications as to why I love this game SO incredibly much.
First of all, the obvious, it's in 3D, so there's diagonal movement and it's really cool and you're not dealing with little pixels!
Second, TOTALLY. AWESOME. PLOT. I mean come on, you've GOT to have something different every once in a while!! I mean yeah, the occasional battles with random Grunts from whatever evil team there is this time is nice and all but this one ACTUALLY HAS A STORYLINE. The first time they ever came close to an actual storyline in the regular pixel games is in B&W when they had that whole deal with N. But that still wasn't enough to satisfy my hunger. This storyline is cool! And you actually have to do certain things instead of just getting lost in some maze.
Thirdly, this ties in with the plot, Shadow Pokemon. Just, amazing. So much fun. I loved how you didn't just catch your Pokemon, you fricken stole (or 'Snagged') them! This made it so that there was a point to every single battle besides just leveling up, you always had to make sure you caught that Shadow Pokemon! And there were a lot of good Pokemon to purify too. It wasn't easy catching those little bastards that had moves that were super-effective on every Pokemon. And even if you accidentally killed them, you still had a second chance later on. From Teddiursa to Salamance, you were in for a good throw-down.
Fourthly, you don't start off with Squirtle or Cyndaquil, Chikorita or Charmander, no, that's just too mainstream. You start off with a fricken EEVEE. AWESOMESAUCE. Shortly after beginning your journey you arrive at Gateon Port, where you may select an item that will evolve your Eevee into any eeveelution! (besides Leafeon, Glaceon, and Sylveon obviously)
My fifth and final reason, 2 words. Mount. Battle. HELL yeah bitches. This was the best, satisfying, and actually extremely entertaining way to train your Pokemon. 100 trainers, every 10 at different levels, you may stop whenever you like. Your Pokemon get restored after every battle, you get exp.Mt. Battle is THE best place to train your Pokemon, not only did you get exp. but you also got PRIZES AT THE END. And coupons to buy even MORE prizes! (Not to mention a move tutor, deleter, and relearner in the main lobby) Plus if you defeat everyone all the way through all at the same time, you got one of the Johto starters! And if you do it again after purifying all 48 Shadow Pokemon, you got Ho-oh! Heck to the yes!
Now don't get me wrong, the original pixelated games are still AWESOMEEEEEEEEEE buuuut this games beats all. (And yeah I know this game is extremely similar to Colosseum but this game is still better ;D)
Can we all just take a moment or thirty to appreciate how epic the Mt. Battle theme is?
