So I found this and despite my best efforts I can find absolutely no information on where this came from or if it has a proper title beyond just “walkthrough manga” but it’s Orre related so I ran it through google translate since I can’t find any existing translation. Naturally it has a few points where google’s inaccuracies/overly literal-ness make it awkward or just flat out make no sense, but it’s better than nothing. Please if anyone who actually knows Japanese finds this, take a crack at it. I was hoping the copyright info at the bottom of the last page would shed some light on it so tracking down a physical copy for better scans would be an option someday, but no luck as there just isn’t enough resolution for google’s image processing to read and I can’t make it all out to retype it like I was doing for some of the other small text. My best guess was it was distributed in cereal boxes since I can think of no other reason for the copyright info to list CORNFLAKES on something like this, but I could be totally wrong because I have no idea what the rest of that line says. What can I do to help?

There's a lot of things you can do, and many of them without even leaving your couch or desk.

If you have a Prime subscription, stream a Stargate show. Even if you own the dvds. Streaming the show will make it show up on their statistics, and the more people who stream, the higher the numbers go.

Get your friends to give the show a go. Maybe show them an episode or two. If someone starts streaming the show who beforehand hadn't, that will boost their statistics. Heck, make it a drinking game!

Make posts about Stargate. Got a favourite moment? Want to talk about what the show meant to you? Got a funny screenshot? Do it! And use the tag #SaveStargate. Make Stargate trend, and let Amazon MGM see how many of us there are.

Another group is working on sending some Stargate memorabilia to as close to space as possible, like for The Expanse. Even if you don't donate money, you can still share it around.

Make fanart/posts/show memorabilia online. We're still here. Let's prove it!.

Given the state of the future of the Stargate franchise, I know that for myself and many fans fan fiction is where we go for our Stargate fix.

Okay Stargate fandom, hear me out: there are a lot of us, and Amazon's only motivation is money, so what if we did more than just sulk? What if we got organized? Set a date that we ALL stop giving them money for anything until they either reverse the decision or sign over the rights to someone who actually cares about Stargate? Cancel prime subscriptions, stop placing orders, delete accounts, and MOST IMPORTANTLY send lots of feedback saying that this is all specifically becasue they canceled the new Stargate show for daring to care about the existing fanbase.

I'm not a finance person, so I have no idea when their earnings calls happen or when in relation to those calls such actions would have the most noticable impact. But given the size and age of the fandom surely someone here has some insight into those things. Even if there aren't any experts in that field here (unlikely, especially if we organize beyond just the tumblr slice of the fandom) we're smart people, we know how to do research and with enough people digging we can get the right answers pretty quickly.

I'm also not really a social media/pr person so I wouldn't know where to begin getting the word out to as many people as possible. Someone who knows how to people would have to handle the outreach side of things. Talking to the folks running gateworld would probably have the most reach within the fandom, but again I have no contacts there or anywhere near enough of a plan to present formally. Given how much damage Amazon has done to other fandoms (sorry Lord of the Rings fans, you did not deserve that mess) maybe we can combine forces and get better results for everyone? Honestly as a megacorp they've done far worse damage in the world than just cancel a good show or make some bad ones, but if we can start with making a small difference then that's a good step towards making a bigger difference.

What I CAN do personally is work on guides and templates. Guides for how to cancel, how to find the feedback forms and contact info, templates of what to say or avoid saying to politely and consicely get the message across. Obviously people who rely on Amazon for stuff they need would need alternate affordable sources for the stuff they buy, I can work on compiling those for some product categories as well. I'm not a great graphic designer but I have the tools and know how to use them.

Stargate Atlantis shawl

Eighteen years ago (EIGHTEEN!!!! Yikes! How can this have been so long ago???) I made a graph for a Stargate Atlantis cardigan with the pegasus logo. Alas, the cardigan is no more, but I have wanted to reuse my graph for a while now and finally decided to make a shawl this time.

I worked with 4 mm needles.

Cast on 4 stitches. In each row, working in stockinette stitch, add a stitch at the beginning and the end of the row. I started with the graph after 6 cm. After finishing the graph, I continued in stockinette stitch for a bit over 11 cm, then switched to k2, p2 for 4 cm and then cast off. I then knit stitches out of the sides of the triangle, one for each row of the triangle. These stitches I knit in k2, p2, having a k2 on the point of the triangle. In each row after the set up row I added a stitch at the beginning and the end of the row, and left and right of the middle k2. I did 24 cm of this, then cast off.

Like they tried to change Reblogs and people rightfully got up in arms, this is a LOT worse. In order to have access to any sort of thing dubbed mature, and We haveALL seen what they think is mature, Everything from a black and white photo of a black woman's arm, to posts about IUD recalls, to a nude painted by a 17th century artist, to anything involving the word Trans; you have to send your personal information to a third party site that WILL get hacked, and you will be doxxed. And they can say "Oh shit, well it wasn't us who sent your name address and gender identity to Moldovan teenagers, here's a couple extra minutes in the ball pit.

That's bad enough!!!!!!!! But the entire idea of needing permission from state authorities to access anything labeled mature by our friendly AI overlords is some fucking Boll shit. Die Gedenken Sind Frie baby. This is all a reaction to people getting uppity about their lowly lowly rights and is being propped up by the same bad actors tht have made life unlivable. Fuck that shit.

Google will block sideloading of unverified Android apps starting next year

for those like me who cannot install alternative android forks on their phone because the phone in question is thoroughly unrootable, I would recommend downloading anyapk on your phone while you still can. In their own words:

anyapk is a lightweight Android application installer that bypasses Google's developer verification requirements by using local ADB (Android Debug Bridge) connections. Smoothly install any APK file on your device without restrictions, gatekeepers, or corporate approval.

If you're reading this after Google's lockdown date and are unable to install anyapk the regular way, there is a method outlined on the github linked above which tells you how to install anyapk on your phone by plugging it into a computer with ADB installed on it. Once you have anyapk on your phone, you will not have to do that ever again (unless you delete anyapk off your phone)
