Anyone going to Federation Uni? I’ve yet to find a friend :-(((
I just really want to write about camp is all.
If you don't wish to read, continue on, kinds sirs.Okay, so we left from school at 9am-ish, just over an hour to the Mt Helen campus of the University of Ballarat. Gorgeous campus, I'm telling you. When we pulled up in the buses (there were three), it was warm and there was all that magical shiz, like dappled sunlight and butterflies (not even kidding; so many butterflies).
Now imagine roughly two hundred people with bags crowded into a small space as we wait to go to our dorms. Then we put our bags in a dorm (we would be assigned separate dorms later), went to an amphitheater, got a briefing or something, I can't remember. Received packs - boring. Went to a class (I had Health & Well-being first, which was watching a movie about alcohol and rape and this chick died and stuff) and then we had lunch and another class and, ah... Teaching & Learning class, then room allocation which was great.
The dorms had twelve rooms each, a communal kitchen/living area, two communal bathrooms and then a separate communal toilet (in each dorm, not overall). One room had an en suite, which was given to the teacher accompanying each dorm (we got Megan, the chick who basically runs everything in the senior school). There were about twelve dorm buildings with a barbecue area in the center. Our kitchen contained chocolate, chips and drinks.
I slept on the first floor (two floors overall). My friend Tue-Quan slept in by me.
At about eleven, there was this weird knocking. We found the door it was coming from, but there was no one there so we left it, but then it kept happening, so we tried to catch the person. Never did, but we told a teacher and they tried to sort it out. Sort of freaked us out.
At 10.40, this weird ass security came into out dorm and tried to tell us off for being so loud (blah blah blah lights off before you go to bed, all sound down at 10.30). He had the weirdest accent. Anyway, Megan told him off for walking into a girls' dorm without knocking, but apparently he did it a couple more times with others, so Mr Derouge practically kicked him out of the area. I mean, we could be getting dressed or something. What a perv.
Ah, lots of crickets there... and lizards. That was cool.
At 7PM, we had a comedian come in. Michael Connell. He was hilarious! He told us jokes about his school days. Oh, God. He made jokes about his own face, him being "Asian" even though he's basically just white, getting apples chucked at his face, pigs heads, nerds, trains, he played the harmonica! Haha! Then we got pictures with him afterwards.
After that we got changed... into our pajamas. AND THEN EVERYONE IN THE YEAR LEVEL HAD A TRIVIA. I fucking love trivias. My table came third, tied with another table. I reckon the table who won used their phones. Honestly, they're a bunch of idiots, but eh. Um, lots of chocolate there. AND YEAH, TRIVIA.
There was supposed to be a movie after that, but it was Bridesmaids and no one really wanted to watch it, so we all went back to the dorm. Watched Craig Ferguson, talked about some really weird shit. (Highlight was Kirrily explaining why having a vagina was better than testicles: "If you get kicked in the balls, that's it! But if you get kicked in the vagina, their foot just disappears!" The problem was that we didn't realize the teachers could hear everything we were saying...)
Then we slept. The teachers were talking loudly, so I didn't sleep until 1. Then the girls in the level above started talking, so I didn't sleep properly until 2. Woke up the next morning at quarter past 6 to put my face on. :D Then I got to wake people up.
Breakfast (I had toast) and then a Time Management class, which was useful, really.
We got tours of the campus after that (and holy fuck, the number of stairs! if you want toned legs, go there!). It's a brilliant school. I would love to go there. So natural and simple, yet exceedingly broad and, oh my God, the library!
Afterwards, we had a Pathway Planning class, which was great, because I love thinking about my future. Poor Ms Macrae (the teacher) lost her voice while talking to us. I felt sorry for her.
Then we got our bags and got on the bus and woooo stopped at McDonalds.
I may have stayed there a bit too long. One of the buses left without consulting Mr Derouge. They didn't get a head count, so yeah. I did get on the bus (I was with a group of about ten other people), but we were late and I had a Frappe which wasn't supposed to be on the bus but meh. Almost fell asleep on the way home, but not quite. Tue-Quan did though.
And then we got back, I needed to pee, so I walked home with my little suitcase, greeted my quail and then peed. Too much info? I doubt anyone read this far anyway.
Then I tried to watch Sherlock, but I fell asleep against my beanbag, so I got in bed and slept for four hours, woke up and ate some steak. It was overall a good welcoming home. Especially the Sherlock part... and the sleep part.
BUT OH MY GOD CAMP WAS AWESOME. I mean, I haven't been on camp since primary school, maybe. It was great. Worth the $90. So great.
I want to go on camp again. ;3;
