More goodbyes
On Wednesday, I said goodbye to my coworkers at Mt View. They had a luncheon for me and it was really nice. They girls also gave me a card, which was perfect, as well as a gift card to Bath and Body Works. Can't wait to get some yummy smelling lotions :)
I'm really going to miss my therapy girls. I thought we all worked well together and I was blessed in the fact that I was able to have fun at work. There were many times when the time would fly by and it was hard to believe that I put in eight hours of work. A lot of times it didn't feel like "work" because we have fun at work. Anyway, I'm going to miss everyone. It's pretty much been the same staff since I started three years ago and I've come to think of everyone as friends - some very close friends - and it's hard to say goodbye after being there for three years.
I am hopeful that keeping in touch will be easy via texting or facebook, especially since I don't plan on staying away forever. My new job will hopefully allow for some time to return home on some weekends.
I did a pretty good job in not getting too emotional during my luncheon, or while I read the card that everyone signed. It wasn't until I walked out the front doors and to my car did I really start to cry sob and I had to sit for a few minutes before I could start the car to safely drive away.
I also had to say goodbye on Thursday to the staff at St Anne's, which is another building where I had the opportunity to work. I didn't work there often, however I was familiar with many of the therapists there and it will be sad to not work with them anymore as well. They got me pizza on Thursday for lunch from my favorite pizza place - yum! I had a few "moments" on Thursday that made me realize I am really going to miss my old people in the nursing homes (since my first assignment is going to be in an outpatient clinic) and it made me rethink my decision. I know I'll be back to a skilled nursing facility soon (knock on wood!), but it was still a few moments that made my throat swell up and almost made me want to cry.
I had today off, which feels like a blessing, because I got so much accomplished. I finished up some laundry, made one last batch of cake pops for a baby shower order that I am dropping off later tonight, and get my things together. The original plan was to drive up to my new (temporary) home in Athens, PA tomorrow. Matt would drive my car and then I would ride along with his dad in a separate car, I'd move in, and then they would return home. However, Matt decided that I would just drive up alone on Sunday. Whatever. Guess it doesn't really matter. I talked with the landlord today, she seems really nice, and that has made me feel a lot better about the upcoming move.
Left on the agenda: bag up and arrange the cake pops, one or two more loads of laundry, finish packing,... and I plan on getting all of these things done tonight so that tomorrow all I have to do is get some groceries to pack in a cooler (so I don't have to worry about getting to the store once I get there on Sunday) and relax for the rest of the day.
More to come once I arrive at my new home. I have to arrange for internet service, so I don't know when I'll be up and running with that.
