The Biggest Reason I Won’t Play Legacy...
...is, in other formats, I just can’t resist playing jank. For god’s sake, my main deck in Modern right now is Restore Balance. And I love it. But I just can’t justify spending Legacy money on jank...
local girl is sad because her local game store was out of phyrexia set boxes when she went there to buy one
I was talking shit about how my vampire deck always wins and how I should copy the deck to sell it..... then I got my ass handed to me.
On Wurmcoil Engine.
I have the Promotional foil edition of Wurmcoil Engine. It costs about 22 bucks depending on where you look. It's in Feldon right now, because that's a deck that can abuse it. Wurmcoil can work in many decks, but many decks don't need Wurmcoil. It is incredibly aggressively costed. It's gaining you respectable chunks of life and killing things in the process. When it dies, it's built insurance is 100% (split between two estates). It has a strong resume, yet out of six edh decks, I put it in so few. To the point where I'm considering getting rid of it for the ten bucks or so I'd get out of it, as I could essentially trade it for an Urborg or a Cabal Coffers. Decisions, decisions.
Here's my plan (sort of).
So I have six edh decks. It's too much. I purged down to 2 a few years ago and yet here I am again. They don't get enough time and affection from me despite my love. - Atogatog: Complete, fluid though. - Slobad: Only needs Mana Crypt - Jori En: Just foiling, otherwise complete :) - Spider Mom: About 70 bucks then competitive/complete, currently playable. - Feldon: Needs about 50 bucks to be complete. - Athreos: Complete! So I wanna purge two of these. Athreos is both complete and not worth a ton of money, frankly, so no point there. Jori En is my 'heart' deck so it's gotta stay, and Spider Mom is too new to cut and it can possibly be tournament worthy? So I wanna see where that goes. Slobad is my current tournament deck, and worth a lot as a result, so I don't wanna get rid of it unless I can consistently win a tournament with Spider Mom and even then it's debatable. Atogatog was a gift and I can't spit in the face of that. Then there's Feldon. Which I've decided to purge if for nothing else to finish Spider Mom, which is really just 4 cards (Coffers/Urborg, Craterhoof, Phyrexian Altar). Then the final question remains; if it turns out that IS competitively viable, do I then get rid of Slobad to build Grenzo? Because I wanna build Grenzo. Why is this so hard?
dat moment when i had skipped the "if you played it from your hand" part and i was building an entire deck around this ._.
So I'm updating my Jori En, Ruin Diver...
Which is heavy on instants and sorceries, complete with Sphinx-Bone Wand, Mizzix's Mastery, etc; and I took out two instants/sorceries for an artifact (Sphinx-Bone) and a creature (Chasm Skulker). So I start to panic and think I'm killing my synergy, and I do a count of my instants and sorceries... There are 41 in the deck. I think I'm ok.
