This is an excellent new video which looks at one of the bloggers and video producers who was behind the movement to remove Mubarek from power in Egypt. His videos criticised Mubarek's regime and called for civil disobedience, putting himself at massive risk in the process. While there has been much discussion of the role of social media in the Middle East protest movements, there has not really been an indept profiling of those involved in the creation of the viral media itself.
The producer, Aalam Wassef, was one of the many unsung heroes behind the revolution. This video examines his motivation, and shows he was making viral videos pushing for change in Egypt since 2007. The movement which pushed Mubarek from power in 2011 had it’s seeds at least as early as 2007.
