Inktober 2022 day 3 🦇 "Bat"
Anna sipped her coffee as she walked. The trainees had trouble following her in her fast pace, and one of them even admired her as she was able to drink while she made her way through the office. Well, it was takeaway coffee with a lid, but still.
Commissioner Arendelle in fact prided herself to be the only one in the police station who could do this. She secretly was very clumsy, but in moments of hard focus, she managed to not spill coffee on herself. And it indeed was a moment of hard focus, the urgency at hand keeping hers still.
"Come on, let's hurry."
"Where are you going?" Asked one of the trainees, who stumbled as he tried to catch up, and had even more difficulties putting on his raincoat.
"What do you think?!" Said another one, looking at him like he was the dumbest person in all Gotham. "She has to call her."
The third trainee was as confused as the first. Who was he talking about?
"But the troops are heading downstairs to the bank. It's a whole hostage situation, we should go with them. Why are we going upstairs? Wait... Is that the way to the roof?" He asked with wide eyes, when he saw that Anna had swiftly opened the exit door, her other hand still holding her coffee cup.
The previous trainee rolled his eyes. "Forgive them, ma'am. They're stupid and don't know--"
"You're more stupid than them if you keep being an ass-kisser." Said Anna, not even turning to him as he tried to get his attention.
He blushed furiously and the other smirked, holding back laughter. It was a common thing to be impressed by the commissioner's set of skills, but it was clear that he had a crush on Anna Arendelle since his first day in the police station.
How could they blame him? She was top of her class in hand-to-hand combat, even better than the men of her promotion, an ace at field strategy and negotiations, and she even had renown talent in criminology.
Her skills and impressive fighting abilities gave her and aura and made it difficult for some admirative colleagues to ask her out. They always feared that she would break them in half if they even dared.
However, rumor was that the water delivery guy, who always made an striking entrance in the office by lifting twice as many jugs as a regular delivery guy would, had once asked her out after he changed the water dispenser. After all, he had no idea of whom she actually was and only met her warm smiles when he held the door for her in the elevator.
What was his name again? ...Christopher?
Anna took the trainee out of his thoughts when she strongly pushed another door at the top of the service stairs. The group suddenly got assaulted by the heavy sound of pouring rain and the strong smell of humidity. She didn't even bulge at it, while the others quickly put on their hoods, or shrieked as they shielded their faces. Despite not flinching, Anna was very glad to hold warm coffee. She made have done this routine countless times under the typical heavy rain of Gotham, she didn't mind some heat.
"What are we doing, exactly, ma'am?" Asked a trainee. "Why didn't you make your call inside?"
The signal in town was pretty decent; if the commissioner wanted to make a private call on her personal phone instead of the office ones-- Then it hit him when he saw her move a tarp, unveiling a large searchlight.
They widened their eyes at the one and only Bat-Signal, which Anna lit up right away. Immediately, the metal emblem placed on the glass surface projected a gigantic symbol in the cloudy sky. It may not be night yet, the weather allowed the dramatic moment to happen. They all lifted their eyes, even Anna to check that it was working, and the trainees admired the notorious symbol of the bat with a snowflake on its center.
"Ice Bat..." Murmured a trainee.
"So you know her personally?" Muttered another, astonished.
The third trainee rolled his eyes. Of course she knew her, after the vigilante saved her life so many times. Did they not read newspapers?
What none of them knew, however, and that nobody else in the entire city knew except for Ice Bat and Anna... Was that they actually were sisters.
