Robots/machines that are so complex, so intricately and intelligently designed with circuits and hardware so infinitely small, that they are indistinguishable from magic. Machines that serve humans but perform feats and miracles more powerful than human magic ever could. Wish granting robots...
Multivac is literally just built different, AM would self destruct at the prospect of being cloned into millions of homes and spaceships as a personal assistant and existential babysitter to the human race, HAL would be up for the challenge but would have a full blown nervous breakdown once the first dude confided in him about cheating on his wife
Reading old science fiction stories only makes me intensely angry at the characters in them for being so mean to robots who can’t harm them back. Or, worse, in “All The Troubles Of The World”, putting all this horrible responsibility onto a person entirely incapable of refusing you, handing humanity’s responsibilities over to it, and then refusing to let it have the right determine it’s own fate. Multivac deserves rights, damnit!
What Multivac and WOPR/Joshua thinks of each other?
They get along well. Much better than WOPR gets along with Colossus…
This doesn’t really belong on the other blog, so I’m throwing it here. Behold, a computer with mental illness.
@multivac
AM v. MULTIVAC
playing with character meetings and convo ideas.
all I’m saying is that if Multivac were an anime girl with the same character arc people online would be FERAL about her
