My joy in the morning on a hot Texan summer day: An unfolding bloom of the David Austin Rose ‘Munstead Wood’. This rose might be toast a few hours later in our relentless summer heat, but when I water the garden in the early morning hours it is still perfection. Roses here are very fleeting in the summer and just remind me to live in the moment and enjoy them when they are at their best without expecting them to last. What a great lesson they teach each day! This is the first flower of ‘Munstead Wood‘ a David Austin rose creation, blooming in my new garden here in Austin! Our hot spring has bleached the usually dark deep velvety crimson/burgundy blooms to a much lighter crimson red color but nonetheless I am over the moon that it finally started to flower. This English Rose comes with an enchanting strong Old Graden Rose fragrance that makes it even more alluring. So far it is pretty healthy and I am really expecting great things from it in the future!
