A companion/sequel to this and possible prequel to this for today’s @sterekdrabbles words wound, defend, fit, and this week’s theme of loyalty. These have all been a bit...darker.
Derek is wracked with guilt when he finds out the hunter had gone after Stiles.
He assures himself that Stiles isn’t wounded, that the blood isn’t his, examines Stiles’s eyes, what lies behind his steady gaze.
“I should’ve been there to protect you,” Derek mutters, frustrated with his own inabilities.
Stiles shrugs, but there’s tension. A lie. “I can defend myself.”
But Derek knows Stiles is wondering if this will change how they fit together, if he’ll see the monster lying beneath—not an incident or a coincidence but a pattern.
“Yeah, but I’m supposed to protect you.”
