Dizzy Dreamer (Sandman story)

Hey, it's DC. And that's what it was voted on in the polls. I know this is in first person, I wrote this as basically my own self insert. Sorry if you don't like that. I kinda like how this is written.

I'm also goin to take a break from postin so much for days straight. I try to make it different. Life is just so busy and gets in the way with sittin down and writin actual stories and headcanons without it lookin rushed. That's why I always do incorrect quotes.

I have no context for this story. I was just bored when I wrote this last year.

Anywhore, the character is as always nonbinary.

Word Count: 850 (So, pretty short.)

I float above the Dream Lord, watchin him work as he creates dreams and nightmares for the mortals in the wakin world. I sigh in boredom of the dreams he'd make but keep up on my toes for the nightmares. It was like watchin TV. But you don't have a remote control and the channels change from only two genres.

I hear the personification sigh, clearly annoyed of my presence. I don't blame him, I just LOVE causin trouble. There's a reason I'm the trouble muse. That's how I get along with his sibling, Desire, so well. “Two peas in a pod!” they'd tell me with a mischievous twinkle in their golden eyes as they grin at me. Miss that twin.

“Hello?” Dream spoke up, wakin me from my thoughts, growin impatient.

“Hmm?” I spoke up, lazily lookin at his gaunt pale face with a half ass smile.

“I asked you what your business here is, Muse.” he coldly says, lookin back at his work.

“Hmm.. None, just bored.. Desire is busy with their thing, so I decided the next best thing, Dizzy Dreamer.” I watch him glare at me for the nickname I gave him that he absolutely LOATHES.

“Don't me that.” we both said at the same time, me mockin his voice, hearin him growl in frustration at me.

“ENOUGH.” his voice booms in the big room as he turns to face me, gettin closer to me as I continue floatin upside down, flippin right side up to face him properly.

“You're such a stick in the mud, Dream.” I stick my tongue out at him playfully, not takin his frustration seriously in the slightest.

“You're an annoyance to my work and myself.” the stars in his black eyes twinkle in irrigation.

“I can't help it! It's who I am.~” I shrug playfully, “Blame Desire and Delirium for creatin me. Y'know I'm not new. Besides, I'm technically not doin anythin to you.”

Dream sighs in annoyance at my answer, closin his eyes as he pinched the bridge of his nose, I was right and he knew it, “I'm not workin for your entertainment, Muse.”

“Don't be so mean, Dreamer.” I teased, “Though the nightmares DO entertain me. Where IS the nightmare?” I'm tryin to ruffle him up now and he sees it.

Flexin his jaw in irritation, he gets closer to me where we're face-to-face like he was with his sibling, Desire. From what they've told me.

“That's none of your concern. Or any of your affairs to deal with..” his voice was cold when he answered, immediately shuttin down the topic, feelin his cold breath hit my face.

“Right.. My ‘affairs’..” I air quote the last word. Man, what a tough crowd. I sigh, lettin myself float down, my bare feet gently touchin the cold stone floor of the Dream Lord’s castle, my eyes not leavin his from my movement. “Y'know, ya should lighten up a little bit, Dizzy Dreamer. You're always so serious. Such a fun sucker.”

He doesn't reply, his face cold and unwelcomin as he still looks at me.

“Boop!” I quickly poke his nose, only for his hand to quickly shoot up, tightly grippin my wrist of the hand that touched him.

“DON'T touch me.. You're testin my patience, Muse..” his grip tightens and I hissed out in pain he's actually causin.

“Yea. Yea. I get it.. I'll leave.” I replied stiffly, yankin my arm to get out of his cold, iron grip, “You wonder why you're so damn alone and don't ever see that you push others away. You're always so serious bout anythin, even if it doesn't involve you.”

He glares at me coldly, not sayin a word in reply to what I said.

“Even Desire is honestly more bearable than you, cause anyone can BREATHE and not get yelled at. I feel bad for Lucienne. No wonder Cor-”

Before I could finish my sentence, Dream had his hand in my icy white hair so tightly, bringin my face close to his. “Ah!” I yelled in pain from his tight grip in my hair.

“DON'T. Speak of him, Muse. You DON'T know what my affairs are which are NONE of your business..” his grip gets tighter with every word he said, causin me to wince in pain, “Your next choice of words better be carefully thought out, as my patience has run incredibly low..”

I look at his pitch black eyes, swallowin hard as I try to reply, “I-”

“Carefully.” he warns me, watchin my reaction and waitin for a responce from me.

I swallowed hard again, breathin out, “I'll stay out of your affairs.. I'm sorry, Lord Morpheus..” I slowly replied as I picked my words to not anger him even more than I did.

He pauses for a moment, his tight grip in my hair loosens as he jerks my head away from him, almost knockin me down and losin my balance a little. “You better. Don't test me..”

I rub my throbbin head, givin him one last look before vanishin into smoke, goin right back to Desire’s realm.

Syrin's Muse- Prologue

💧- angst/ F! OC x Rick Flag Part 1/ (?) W.C: 2,600+ Summary: people from her town call her Syrin, she's a performer, and it's at a night like this she meets Flag. The first time she meets Flag it's pure coincidence. However, the next time they meet up it's planned- Waller sets it up for him to bring her in as she is a vigilante/villain.

Verana (Rani/Vera) Sonare [so-nah-ray] Cadenza[codename Syrin] - she can manipulate sound and light (from head to toe and especially her vocals) (not only can she hypnotize you like those of legend but she can emit a blueish/lilac aura and most ppl can smell the scent of lilacs some even taste berries [grapes/blueberries/blackberries) As a Meta, some of her abilities are still a bit of a mystery to many.

Walking down the street, the stars, street lamps, and passing cars illuminate the area around her and the bounding woman beside her. As they made their way to the bar her lifelong friend had picked out, she couldn't stop smiling. The woman in front of her begged her to travel across the country with her for a little vacation. Now as Sila giddily skipped down the sidewalk, Verana walked calmly behind her taking in the colder weather.

When they reached the bar Sila grabbed Verana by her hand and dragged her inside. The bar, pulsed with drowning music, not too many people out for a Friday night. Verana looked around at the place her friend chose, this time taking her friend's hand and leading her to the bar.

"Excuse me, pardon? Could we get 2 shots tequila and 2 shots vodka, thanks." Verana gave a small smile to the bartender in front of them. As the shots were placed in front of them the ladies looked at each other, each of them taking one in hand and tapping the glasses together before tossing them back. The burning liquor passed down her throat and it gave her a sense of relaxation.

As the night moved on, with a few more drinks in them the pair of them danced together. A group of people around them also dancing but Verana could feel eyes on her as she hummed along to the beat she danced to. As she danced, twirling around, flaring out the end of her skirt as she did so- she met the eyes of a stranger. He was sat in a corner of the bar, a drink in hand. The way he stood she could tell he towered over her.

With the liquid courage still coursing through her, she combed her hair back and smiled at him. Something in the air thickened as she continued humming and the mystery man made his way over to her. Verana danced her back to his front, their hands slightly laced. She hummed continuously as he turned her around, her head meeting just at his chest.

He gently tilted her head back to see her face, his warm brown eyes gazing into her indigo blue ones. As they danced she could feel something around them change. Something was different.

As they danced to the beat, he leaned down and she followed in his lips an inch from her face as his breath fanned hers. It was slow, but felt warm, like drinking whiskey. The song they danced to ended, still up close, sharing the same air when Verana was bumped into the stranger- meeting their lips in a brief kiss.

When they pulled away from each other only eye contact was shared as Sila came back into earshot, "Hey V- we gotta go." She tried her best to whisper into her ear but with the music and people all talking around her it was nearly impossible.

"Some guy was getting handsy, we're only gonna have a few minutes before someone gets suspicious."

Verana watched as the man's eyes wandered across her face to her friends and then through the crowd, she long since stopped humming, the liquid courage no longer dampening her senses. She looked around at the crowd and saw 2 exits from the building. Letting go of the man in front of her she smiled softly at him and leaned up to place a kiss on the creased look forming on his face. Before she settled back to her feet she whispered into his ear almost melodically, "Forget us."

"So V, you hoping you run into that hunk you were dancing on?" Sila asked as the girls dressed in their nightly gear. It had been a day since their night at the bar and the girls were getting ready to go out, but not like before.

"Ya' know Sy' I've told you already this life isn't exactly suited for that shit. And even if I did happen to run into him it's not like he'd remember me." As Verana slipped into her mismatch combat boots, she looked over her the opposite bed as Silas stood up.

"You didnt- You did not fix his memory. V I can't believe you." She gave a quick huff before turning around and tying her own shoe.

"Sy' what'd you want me to do? You had just turned some dude to stone in the back hallway, it would've been a matter of time before he and everyone else in the bar figured it was us."

Verana slipped on her old black leather jacket over the blue top she had on and adjusted the tied belt around her waist, "No- you're right. You did what you had to do- Damn. V, when did you change up your wardrobe?" Sila had turned back around and was taking in Verana's new look. The late-night duo had changed their look before, but all that remained constant this time was the mismatched boots and the jewelry, that of which Verana had been given from her estranged mother.

"Hey- you were just tellin' me how right I am." Verana gleamed.

Sila shook her head and finished getting ready. Strapping their weapons and varying pouches to their bodies their left room through the back exit and headed out.

A few days later Verana and Sila had returned home, back on the opposite coast. They hadn't gone for more than to have somewhat of a vacation. But bad people do bad things everywhere. And the consequences tend to catch up sometimes.

Verana had been at her second job of the day, she was working late- covering a shift for someone who called out. Waitressing had its up's and down's but it helped pay the bills, sort of. As she was going back and forth from the front of the house to the kitchen to read off the orders she felt her phone ring in her pocket- it had to be Sy' no one else calls this late.

She couldn't answer the phone, if she had and her boss happened to see her- she could kiss this job goodbye. She let the call pass and waited till she caught her 15 to call her back. It was an agonizingly slow crawl to get to her break, table after table of customers wanting to get their food as fast as possible.

Grumbling to herself as she went out the back door to the alleyway behind the restaurant. She wrapped her jacket tighter around herself, on nights like these she was glad they didn't have some ridiculous uniform. Verana leaned against the backside of the building and whipped out her phone finding a voicemail from Sila.

"Hey girl- I know *giggle* shhh. Shut up. I know you're at Joey's till 12 *giggle* but you should come meet me at Splash. Pretty Please. I'll love you forever- And there's a guy here that is just your type."

Verana looked up at the starry night sky and chuckled slightly. Might as well get to it. She turned back to head inside when she stalled. Something felt different, she didn't feel as alone as she wanted. Looking about the alleyway she saw nothing but the main road which occasionally lit up with passing headlights.

As her shift ended she waved goodbye to Joey, having changed into a spare change of clothes in the back. She swung by their apartment dropping off her duffle before heading to meet up with Sila. As she arrived at the nightclub there were people pouring out, the bass of the club still emanating from inside.

Entering the club she looked for her spunky friend. She was never too hard to find, usually the pulse of the party. As Verana walked farther into the club she could feel eyes on her, but shook it off- she was in a club and she was highly aware of what many people thought. They don't call you Syrin for nothing...

She shook her head and continued searching the crowd before her eyes landed on the familiar brunette. She was dancing with a familiar group. Making a beeline for them she wrapped her arms around Sila as she started dancing, "Oh my goodness! Look who showed up!"

Verana looked around at the group and waved, placing a peck on her friend's cheek, "Hi sorry- work was killer."

"Girl you came from work? Like that?" One of the group spoke up.

Verana glanced down at what she was wearing- the tied cardigan and jeans, "It's not that bad is it?"

"Bitch you're gonna pop a titty out if you're not careful!"

Verana lowered her head at their crudeness but laughed. Despite their warning the night went off without a hitch- the group dancing with one and another. Some of them attracting partners to dance with and others just wanting to dance alone. But the entire time she felt eyes on her- and not the type she usually felt.

The next night it wasn't a night out, it was Verana performing at one of the clubs she usually sang for on Wednesday nights, dressed probably her best, she waited to be called on stage. The owner of the establishment was a sweet older couple who always let her pick the music, with the exception that every 2nd Wednesday of the month would be an oldies selection.

It wasn't a big stage but the club had a rather classy look to it. So she always dressed her best- and today was no different. With a gown that reached the floor, the slit exposing one leg, her hair was pinned to one side. The tight wavy hair swept to one side, her black and blue locks meeting at her hip. As she walked to the lone standing mic she pressed her red lips together, scanning the seated crowd- she gave a soft wave and smile. The small band also joining her on stage- dressed just as nicely as her.

"Hi everyone- thanks for coming into Melancholy- I'm about to start off slow here, but before I do- don't forget to tip the bartender. He'll make sure you enjoy the show." She winked jokingly at the man behind the bar as he whistled.

The beat started picking up as the band started playing the intro, Verana swayed to the beat, "Found myself walking down your street Why did you never notice me?

Found myself walking down your street Why did you never notice me?" As she sang she felt the air change around her. Her eyes scanned the crowd before landing on the familiar warm eyes. Their eyes stayed connected as she continued singing, "Thought I heard you saying my name (I swear I barely ever sleep) Oh no, what a shame

You're taking up all my time Da-da-da, da-da-da You ghost of mine."

As the song ended and quickly transitioned to the next, her eyes flickered to the bassist behind her and she continued her set.

The next two hours went by like torture as she continued to make occasional contact with his eyes, trying to figure out if he remembered. When it came to the end of her set she stopped the band before they could segue to the next song, "Actually guys- I'm gonna switch it up, I know it's last-minute but I thought we could perform one of our specials." She beamed sweetly and the band obliged.

She cleared her throat, hoping the man- if he remembered, if he was suspicious- could feel what was happening. The band started playing the intro and away she went, "You'll be seein' me in your dreams and I'll be there when your reality drowns."

As she started singing, swaying to the beat, she looked deep into his warm brown eyes. His eyes focused on her as she sang, sang to him, "This could be perfection A venom drippin' in your mouth Singin' like a siren Love me while your wrists are bound."

When his pupils slowly dilated she could see his chest struggle to rise heavily- her hypnosis struggling to take its effect, "That when you hear my voice Darlin' it's a choice not to fall in But it's all an act, 'cause I know exactly what you're wantin'."

Verana sang, her voice sounding as melodic as ever, the crowd too enchanted to notice that her pupils had started glowing a deep blue color, "Boy, I know what you desire Oh, you're such a bad, bad liar I want you and I just can't take it So, listen to me when I say it." Her voice radiated around her through the surrounding speakers, and as it did she could tell that her lilac aura started to bleed into the air around her.

"I'll be there when your reality drowns, " As she sang the last note of the song, her hypnosis still struggling to latch on- she quickly thanked the crowd before heading backstage. Her lilac aura quickly faded as she bolted backstage.

She had noticed more than just the man in the crowd, there were 3 others that stuck out like sore thumbs in the crowd. You can dress as classy as you want, but feds still look like feds. Verana ran to the back room, grabbing her bag and changing her shoes before making her way out the side door. Her phone on her shoulder calling Sila, "Hey, when you get this message hopefully I made it home. There were some weird guys at my show tonight, we might need to lay low for awhile. I'll explain when I get home."

As she ended the call, she closed the door behind her and she heard a click behind her back. Cursing under her breath she slowly turned around.

"Verana Cadenza, would you be so kind as to come with me please."

It was the handsome man again, damn he woke from that fast, let's try this, she thought. Verana put her hands up and opened her mouth, "Put your gun down, close your eyes and count to 100."

His features went from devoid of emotion and strict to amused. Swiftly she bunched up her dressed and in the blink of an eye she swiveled- her heel kicked up and met his cheek with little resistance. As he went down, Verana tore off the train of her dress and strapped her bag over her before she took off. Cutting in and out of alleyways she tried her best to rid herself of the people chasing her. As She made a sharp turn just a few blocks from the club she noticed the man behind her- fuck, what's happening-

She was cut off from her thoughts when a car pulled up in front of her cutting her exit off. She turned right around, seeing him once again right behind her. This time, his gun was raised aiming right for her, however, his eyes betrayed that he felt confused.

From the SUV in the street, blocking her exit, came a voice from the backseat window, "Ms. Cadenza, I suggest you give up and don't think about using your voice. These men have special filters that feed out your voice. Not mention we've already got eyes on your friend, Ms. Pero."

Verana spun around looking at the SUV and there on a tablet screen was a video feed of Sila running through the streets. Verana lowered her head and pressed her lips together along with her hands.

As she glared at the video feed she felt a presence behind her and a pinch in her neck. Slowly everything got fuzzy before her legs gave out and her eyes glazed over as they shut.

The man that stood behind her, that had delivered the heavy tranquilizer caught her in his arms and carried her limp body into the secondary car behind the SUV. He knew she was to be transported to Belle Reve. However, the fogginess in the back of Rick Flag's mind was still there.

"Flag, let's go- we have one more to round up." Waller's voice broke him from his train of thought as he attached the temporary dampening collar for her transport.

Personality: Lilith enjoys reading every kind of book that she has come across in the world. She likes talking to people and learning about their civilizations. While comparing it to the ones she has seen before. However, she despises slavery and does all she can to help free the slaves. Even if it means terrifying the slavers or killing them.

She takes no pleasure in killing people and does what she can to avoid it. However, if its someone who truly deserves it, then she’ll make sure they die a horrible painful death. To make sure they suffer as much as the people they had made suffer. While also helping erase the memory of the people who suffered and bring them to a safe place to live.

Although, she does her best to avoid being recognized by people wherever she goes and how many years pass by. She, however, will visit old friends years later when they are near their death.

Lilith hates her immortal life and does wish for death, but she knew this is what she wanted. The power to keep her people safe, to prevent them from suffering like she did, and make sure they’ll be okay. Should the day come when she does die, then so be it. But for now, she’ll do whatever she can to protect her home and her people.

Strength: Centuries of being around has helped Lilith become a master in hand-to-hand combat, learned every fighting style, and mastered every weaponry. She even became a skilled military commander after leading her own army during her reign over her home. She also learned every bit of the human anatomy and knew how to disable the human body or to kill her enemies quickly.

With the combination of both a Vampire & Lycan’s abilities. From being able to lift 100 tons in her regular form, while lifting 200-300 tons in her hybrid form. She’s able to pierce through steel with ease & even crush it with one hand. However, its rare she even uses her full strength since she had yet to fight a foe who can match her.

With her speed she is fast enough to move at 5,000 times faster than the blink of an eye (0 to 200 miles per hour in 0.000015 seconds) in her regular form. In her hybrid form, she is able to move two-times the speed of light & she uses this speed to easily defeat her enemies. Even an entire army in less than a second. When she flies, she can fly faster than even the fastest vehicles in the world.

She is durable enough to handle an explosion of over 2,000 kilotons of TNT in her regular form, but in her hybrid form she is able to handle up to 10,000 kilotons of TNT. Thanks to her healing factor, she can also regenerate from any injuries, provided there is something of her to recover from. Even a drop of blood.

Thanks to her traits of being part Vampire & Werewolf, her senses are greater than that of a human. She can hear, smell, and see even from a great distance. Even hear the heartbeats of her foes even from far away or in the dark, which she can see in. In her hybrid form, her senses are doubled, enhancing them to allow her to hear, see, and smell more than in her regular form.

After being around for centuries has given her the advantage in combat, war, politics, human psychology, and knowing the human anatomy. This allows her to know how to target the weakness of her enemies who dare to challenge her or try to bring harm to her. She knows how to fight, how to play mind games with them, and how to create diseases that can weaken their armies.

She doesn’t rush into battles and prefers using her opponent’s weaknesses to her advantage. Even turns the people against them by using their hate for their politics and have the people rise against their leaders. It has served her well for centuries. And makes it easier for her than fighting an army, when she can turn the people against them, making them her own army.

As for her other abilities, she’s capable of shapeshifting her form to appear as a bat and a wolf. She’s able to levitate off the ground, while also able to lift things/people with her mind through telepathy, but in her Hybrid form she is able to lift an entire building with ease with her mind. While she’s able to hypnotize the weak-minded people to do her bidding, while having full control over the creatures of the night, including insects, certain amphibians, and reptiles. Although, she only does this when she needs to intimidate enemies and not risk the safety of the animals.

Over the centuries, she has learned magic through the many books the two brothers from both their sides contained. Allowing her control over the elements and even control the weather. She can teleport anywhere, but only within the range of 300 miles. Though she can keep teleporting till she gets to her destination.

Necromancy is an ability she is most proud of and is able to use it to summon the dead to fight for her or to gain knowledge from them. She can even steal a soul from a living soul, but she rarely uses this, and can even summon souls that have departed from the afterlife to allow them to possess a vacant body. She is capable of resurrecting someone from the dead, but only if they had died within 24-hours and if their body is intact.

If the body is in pieces or badly injured, she can’t bring them back. She has played in sewing up bodies together and use it for a soul she summons to take part in. Although she needed to work on making sure the organs were in the right area first. Otherwise it would all go horribly wrong.

With her powers she is capable of warping reality, but this is more in her castle, which she had imbued with magic. Allowing it to act upon her will. It can teleport anywhere she wants, provided she is careful not to have the castle appear over people. So, she uses a magic mirror she enchanted to allow her to see where she is going. And if she is being attacked, her castle can act to defend her.

Even use the gargoyle statues and armored suits to act as her army to defend her.

Weaknesses: Can be weakened with sunlight, which can cut her power by half. The sunlight won’t kill her, and neither can Holy items. Those are just something that she made up and passed it on to other superstitious people to trick them. She isn’t a demonic creature.

She can be killed if there is nothing to regenerate from or if she is drained of her blood completely. Even a drop is more than enough to help her regenerate, but if nothing is left, then she can’t come back. If her soul is ripped from her body, then her body will go into dormant in a cocoon using her own wings. However, this will leave her body vulnerable and can be destroyed.

She can’t fly unless she summons her wings but is capable of levitating off the ground. Her mind control only works on the weak-minded, while the strong are unaffected, but will get a slight headache if she forces it. She also can’t use powers over all animals, but she is working to try controlling other creatures like other non-creatures of the night.

Bio: Lilith is the daughter of a couple who had been traveling with their people after the fall of the Roman Empire. Lilith ran to the mountains to hide but was followed by a group of barbarians. She ran into a cave, where she was saved by two figures, who killed the soldiers. To her surprise, the two figures were monsters that were once part of an ancient race years ago.

A cursed race who had been at war against one another for hundreds of years and tried to claim dominance over the land. Until the rise of the Roman Empire, who arrived to the land and managed to kill off much of their people. The two monsters became brothers and worked together to stop the soldiers. Unfortunately, it was too late, and they were the last of their kind.

They were later cursed by a witch for their sins and they would only find peace when they pass their curse to someone else. Lilith wanting to free her people, offered to take their curse. The two brothers refused, fearing that the girl didn’t understand what she was asking and tell her that she should return home. Lilith though doubled down and told the brothers she had no home left. The barbarians took everything from her, even her family.

The two brothers decided to give her what she wants, but she must spend two years with the brothers, so she can be ready for what she will become. They took her to their home, which was hidden from the barbarians and the Romans. Their home contained thousands of books and artifacts that both their sides had gathered for centuries. Both brothers brought the contents to this home, that they had build together.

They trained Lilith so she can be ready to endure their curse, be ready to become a monster, and use what she has been given to free her people. While revealing the weaknesses she must be careful of, including how she can still be killed. After two years, the brothers passed their curse on to Lilith and she was transformed to become the first of her kind. A monster hybrid of three different species and using what she learned to control the power she has. Once this was done, the two brothers passed away and Lilith was now ready to take her home back.

Lilith freed her people from slavery and began training them to become her army. With her powers and her people, they were able to destroy the barbarians and made sure none were spared. Once this was done, Lilith left her people in the care of those who were her friends before her transformation. She taught them all they needed to protect their home and to keep their people safe, while she leaves.

She knew that not all her people will accept her for what she has become and knew if word spreads about a monster ruling this land, many will come to try to kill her or take this power for their own. So, with her powers, she created a castle around the home of the two brothers. Making it her own home and imbuing it with her own magic.

So, she may remain hidden from her people, while she keeps an eye on them and making sure they remain safe. Just in case another great threat every arises to take her home from them.

Over the centuries, Lilith kept hidden from the rest of the world and made sure her people remained safe. Even spread supernatural stories in order to scare outsiders who dare come to her land. She would even travel around the world gathering knowledge, learning about what was beyond her home, and the what other civilizations were like. Although, this seem to only encourage more humans to come to her land and find these creatures.

Lilith didn’t care since she would always scare them off or at times use her powers to make them forget who they are.
