As dark and grim as Shadow can act, he's drawn to those who radiate kindness. Someone who would ground him and remind him that there's sweetness and softness in the world.
But at the same time, they can't be... annoying about it. Sonic, for example, and all his blustering and overly-cheerful snarking about, it gets under Shadow's skin. Or anyone who acts overly righteous.
He needs sincerity. If you tell Shadow that the world is good and kind, if you're genuine about it... He'll believe you. In spite of everything, he'll believe you.
